Ill just throw out there that salt and corrosive anti icing agents are the real issue, and you can have rust above the rear wheel but still have a good frame. Mine spent over a decade in Canada, but it was so far north they didn't use salt because it was too cold for it to be effective. My frame is okay, no holes, but I think it's thin in spots. I do have a hole rusted through above the drivers rear wheel well though. I can only assume that was from the time it spent in Michigan.

mine is in relatively very nice overall condition, its been in NE, KS, MO and IA for almost 1/4 century now and I drive it during winter, usualy the funnest time of the year around here LOL, and freeze my nads off at the gorilla wash hosing it down best i can all the time with fervor!

    ...
from a few posts back.... that red one was not the one in the yard! it was white
i went to the U Pull It on south 60th and found there a fallen 'unicorn', white 97 single cab v6 with 239k miles
looks like they abandoned it on the highway with a police tag onit, it was totally trashed and not pretty under there!

i still have to run the VIN to see where all its been registered
Toyota says NE has no winter problem, so we shall see!

Funny scale difference between a 1st gen Taco & recent Tundra:
