    Hi folks,

i am a first time truck buyer and looking to buy Lunar rock manual tacoma with adv tech and premium OR package, after putting deposit and waiting for many months i couldn't get any in westren washington and many dealers here asking min 5k over msrp and i dont want to pay over msrp. finally i found a dealer in mid west to sell the truck for msrp and he sent me the vspec for 2023 lunar rock manual with exact packages i am looking for. he send me the purchase contract with stock number as well but when i look at the vin in toyota website, its not yet allocated to any dealer. my dealer said it will be arrive between oct 19th and nov 6th, do you think this truck is allocated to my dealer or he just look at all available trucks before even allocation and took deposit from me?

another question regarding the sales tax, the midewest dealer is saying they will take the sales tax in their state but i have register the truck in washington state, so do i have to pay more taxes here? my dealer is calculated tax based on my home address.

    appreeciate your time and knowledge.

    thanks

Welcome to the forum :hattip: 3 pedals for the win!
Doing a fly in and drive home sounds like a great first road trip.

Dealers can look in the system and "grab" up coming production for their allocations, this is as close to a factory order as Toyota does.

I believe the dealer will give you documentation proving the tax has been paid and the states will work it out, however your question is best answered by your home state DMV.

Don't forget to post pictures, we like pictures here -- that and our favorite :spending:

Sales tax is based on registration usually. Don't pay tax to another state for no reason. The allocation process is a bit nebulous at best, as some dealers say they "order" cars etc... others have a much better preview into the cars coming in. Usually you should be able to tell by the demeanor of the selling dealer. If they gave you a time estimate that's pretty promising.

Hello and welcome. There is some tax reciprocity but I have heard it can be a PITA. You may end up paying for some registration fees twice.

The simpler option would be to see if you have a concierge DMV service in your state. This is what the celebrities use to register their vehicles. Brad Pitt does not go to the DMV. You give one of these services your documention, pay a fee, pay tax, and get your license plate and registration.

Your selling dealer would likely be more willing to cooperate and send the concierge/agent all the docs including the MSO if they knew it was a professional. They may not want to release it to you especially if the title needs to be recorded with a lienholder.

Thanks for the suggestion! Yeah it's a good idea. There is a private licensing form near me who handle these situations, I will check with them

Love the color. Some states remit sales tax on your behalf to your home state. You probably already figured out tax though. That's a long ride home. Hope you enjoy new car smell!

A few, mainly added skids. I like leaving the suspension alone. I drive forest service dirt roafs in the desert west extremely extremely too fast. Toyota nailed this suspension going 65 across desert terrain. Changing it is dumb unless you have a specific need like crawling or mud.
Man that is one smoken hot lunar lander you scored. Well done sir
