Hey guys just got regear done and am a bit confused on break in. So some sources say 15 to 20 minutes and some say 15 to 20 minutes which is it living in Houston means 15 minutes only gets you about 5 miles or so

Contact who did the regear and go by that to support their warranty.

Usually it’s 15-20 miles stop let cool and continue that for 100 miles. After 100 miles drive conservatively till 500 then change fluid.

Wait til after the first 500 to tow. First tow drive 15 miles then cool repeat for for 45 miles for a total of 3 times.

It’s not going to matter much either way, I’d shoot for 10 miles or so. The main thing is to heat up and cool off the gears.

The factory gears are manufactured differently than aftermarket so don’t need the same kind of break in. OEM gears are cut under immense pressure, whereas aftermarket are not, hence requiring you to do the work-hardening of the gear face.
