    Dang! That's sweet!

I guess my post should read "I" pay yearly.

You mean to tell me some states don't require yearly registration?? What sorcery is this?

Is it super expensive come time to pay it every 4 years? Mine's a couple hundred bucks every year for my '04 Tacoma (stupid California).

Smog is every 2 years for a vehicle over 5 or 6 years old, can't remember which.

It gets worse. In CA pickup trucks are considered commercial vehicles and needs to be registered as such--even if you bought it for personal use. That 'commercial' registration costs more than your standard reg. My Tacoma will probably be around $400/year.

Well, on the plus side we have countless trails and a variety of terrain to wheel our trucks on out here...I do appreciate that much.

Born and raised in CA and I love it here. Not planning on leaving. I don't mind so much the "CA tax" but I do not think the funds are going where they should. But that's another thread.

Arkansas about $30 a year, Arizona about 20x higher, yep, something like $600 if I remember right it's based on year and GVW, unless something has changed...have not registered a vehicle in AZ for a few years now just because of that.

Probably the most important piece of information is missing here.

Where do you live/have your vehicle registered?

Remember, there are two ways around this. Loopholes if you will.

    1) If you are entitled to Handicap Plates, the fee is waived.
    2) If you put on a shell and never ever ever remove it, you can get normal plates and the fee is waived (you are turning it into an SUV instead of a truck). But if the police ever see your non commercial plates with the shell off... BIG FINE!

    Take that into consideration.

Oh and the third option not available to the 3rd Gen... for obvious reasons... if your Truck is over 50 years old you can get Historical Plates that only cost $25 per year no matter what.

Yep, but is nothing compared to that ole stand in the line DMV pull out your card thing to pay for registration...very cheap here..so to be fair ya $30 + ppt as well....

Its a trade off so when I am back home driving with AR tags in AZ I take my fair amount of shit..probably to same shit I gave to the snow birds over the years..
