    Brothers from other mothers,

Near the very end of 2001 I took delivery of the most amazing vehicle it has ever been my pleasure to own. A new 2002 (toot) DblCab SR5 TRD 4X4. Jade green, 4 miles on it. Awesome.

Three years ago I sold it to my little brother because someone convinced me that with our fourth child on the way I should let it go. He thankfully took good care of it and honored his promise to offer it to me should he ever decide to part with it.

I just drove it the 80 miles or so from his house, I am now the first and third owner of my "tootin TuRD" (yes that's it's name). I am even more excited about getting it back than I was when I got it new.

I am so glad to see this forum exists, I have already learned a ton just reading posts.

What a cool story! It's like getting your old love back again. Kudos to your brother for taking care of it.

Any pics of the old/new truck?

I drove that truck brand new from the church on my wedding day. Snifle, sniff...

Oh yeah and my wife is ok with all of this stuff. She is tired of seeing me depressed for a week every time I see my brother. Then with the counseling and the medication, I think getting toot back will actually save us some dough!

How many miles did he put on it in the three years?

And does it still feel like "yours" or does it feel like you're driving HIS truck?

Here is a photo of toot finally uploaded. [IMG]

You can see that it is in pretty great shape. He made a few modifications that I actually like quite a bit. The wheels are a nice addition. The roof rack has been on it since it was new, he made major upgrades electronically and added very dark tinting to the windows. This is kind of like getting back together with a girlfriend that you really missed and she has a new tattoo or piercing that is a big turn on.

As to the question of wether I feel like it is mine or his. I had it until it had 146K miles on it sold it to him and now that I have it back it has 183K miles on it. I plan to own this thing until it has 583K on it. :) I feel like it is my truck completely. I feel kind of like I did when I visited the house I grew up in.

Yeah I agree, I probably still don't know all of the upgrades he put into it either. I am thinking about custom bumpers, a winch, taller tires (my wheels are 20s) a moderate lift, slides (is that what they are called? armor for the rocker panels).

My dad has a matching black one that he bought a week after I bought mine. His only has 80K miles on it and I swear mine runs better.

Indeed, and just to confirm toot is a she (I am sure you figured that out from the old girlfriend analogy).

The main thing I am disappointed in is the condition of the black fender flares. I was religious about keeping liquid silicone on them so they stayed nice and supple black. I don't think he ver did anything to them and they are ashy and dried out looking. I am thinking about going the plasti-dip route on them and the front bumper.
