Hi all, just made the switch from a Jeep to a Taco. Just purchased a 2013 Regular cab 2.4 4x4 80k miles. I scored a killer deal on it. I was looking into dclb, but couldn't justify the outrageous used prices. I had a single cab T-100 and loved it, so pulled the trigger. Figured a build thread would be a good incentive to keep track of the mods I'm putting into it. So, this is how it sat when I purchased it ...IMG_1419.jpgIMG_1417.jpg

Paint has some pinstriping which is great for me, because now I won't feel as bad if I scratch it. It is completely stock, besides rear airbags and trailer brakes. It was an Arizona vehicle, so no rust.

exactly how I'd like to build up my standard cab.. Really looks good.

How is it with the 4wc on the highway? offroad? and does it impact the mpg significantly?

How did you find the used 4wc?

I would have drove 9 hours also.. Very nice find and a nice fit on the standard cab. I've heard that the 4WC Finch model fits the Tacoma well but is shorter in length than the Eagle and both are not made any longer. I've got my eyes open for either the Finch or Eagle.

Well as per usual I forgot to update this or take any pictures. This summer has been a good one for the truck. Now have rear airbags, dual battery setup, short shifter, 4.88 gears, Detroit locker, and rock sliders. Only carnage has been a ujoint. Going to add new seats and skid plates next. 36227F6A-6211-4035-81E2-36B6C754AFAA.jpg6FF08044-1274-4BE5-8EA8-157D90CE4706.jpg

Sounds like you made some necessary mods and I'm sure you must be enjoying the build.

If for some reason if you ever get tired of bored with that 4WC camper and want to sell it, pm me

Short shifter is super easy to install. https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/urd-short-throw-shifter-for-2nd-gen-2-7l.447670/ Makes a fairly noticeable difference. This write up has everything you need for it. The sliders are from a local company Addicted Offroad. Very stout, and the price welded to the truck was less thsn most shops listed just the sliders.

@13yota seats look nice! Where’d you buy them and did they bolt right in?

I got them from 4 Wheel Parts. Yea corbeau makes a bracket that the seats bolt to, and then bolts to the truck. All the holes line up, just have to trim a bit of carpet.

I've had the SS in my Std Cab 5-speed for over 125,000 miles and do not get any grind going into second or any other gear.

Seats look nice, probably 100x better than that bench. Do you still have recline and for/aft with the new seats?

Actually the grind has stopped. I am guessing that when I installed it I must have missed something slightly. One of these days I will recheck the shifter.

I do have full motion of the seats, though the DC storage bins seem to limit it. I may take them out, I’ll see once i am able to get some miles on them. Huge improvement over stock

how are the 4.88s holding up? Ever consider stepping up to 5.29s? Nice build!

    Thanks!

Now that I'm fully loaded and in the land without decent highways, I wish I had gone with 5.29s. it's definitely manageable with the 4.88s though
