Just buy one with a bench and do a seat swap. I did it and it was pretty easy.

Yeah, maybe. Do the regular cabs with bench seats have carpet on the back wall? I'd rather get exactly what I want without having to futz around and add/change stuff, especially if buying new.

No carpet on the back wall, but that could easily be remedied with a trip the store to buy some automotive carpet.

I totally understand not wanting to do a major overhaul on a brand new truck, however it can be way cheaper to add features after the fact instead of paying a premium for them.

RC, no regret, it looks like a pickup truck and not some compromise hybrid (try for both, wind up with neither, EL Camino). Could see an AC, but the more room you got, the more stuff you end up hauling around. RC keeps the excess to a minimum.

It's too bad. I think they are just cutting corners with the bench seat. There is really no redeeming value in it. With the small size of the truck and the transmission hump & shifter in the middle, there is no room for a third passenger as in a full size truck. I don't know why they even make them other than to save money. This from an owner/sufferer of a bench seat for the last 9 years.

Love my reg cab definitely a good looking truck .The only thing I would like is bucket seats and a V6 .If they had offered it I would haved loved a v6 in this thing .However this is my third reg cab with a 4 cyl and bench seat and all have taken one hell of a beating and never let me down not once . My last truck was a 93 with a 22re that did 80 + mph every time I got in it .Even after 200,000 + it was bulletproof .

You can't beat the v6 access cab. Tons and tons of room for throwing stuff back there. Nobody wants to sit in the back, but then again, when you're 6'4" I don't want to sit in the back of anything but an F250 anyways.

When I go camping I put a huge tool box, guns, all my clothes, laptop, backpack, and extra blankets/pillows on top. Can't see out the rear windows, but hey, at least its all inside and not in the bed where it can easily get stolen or rained on.

Another huge benefit of the access cab is how easy it is to load stuff in and out the back thanks to the suicide doors.

With a double cab, you're wasting a lot of room if you're not hauling people all the time because the seats themselves take up a lot of cubic space. If you're not hauling more than 2 people, the access cab is the way to go.

The 4.0L engine in this truck is awesome. Do the math. 1:16 power ratio (236hp and 3825lb) vs. 1:20 for a 4cyl putting out 159hp at 3250lbs. I find it comical that people think this truck needs a V8 with this power to weight ratio, not to mention 3.73 gearing. My 90gt 302 mustang was maybe a hair faster and it had 225hp and weighed only 400lbs less and came stock with weak 3.08s.

I could not believe the turning radius in the reg cab, I thought there was something wrong when the wheel just kept turning. I began to think my wheels were going to do a complete 360. no more three point turns for me.

yah i kinda wanted the AC when i first was looking, but now living with the reg cab ive seen the light

there isn't too much room for me behind my seat. (sub+6X9s take up alot of room, but it helps me to keep my truck less cluttered, and keep unneeded crap out of my truck

parking is real nice, fits everywhere, and everytime i look at it now im glad i didnt get the access cab, the look of reg cabs are the best imho

I bought an Access cab as my first taco and regretted that and now have a double cab. I figured I wouldn't need that much space because it was a truck but I was wrong. I have more than one other passenger with me too much of the time and my dog barely fit in the access cab. I have a picture of one of my friends having to hold my full grown husky in his lap as we were driving down the interstate because I had 3 people total in the truck and no room for my dog.

    thats his own fault :)

but i like my access cab, i need the longer bed to haul a sled, some sometimes a quad. the 4 cyl has plenty of power, itll get you where you need to go. the AC has great storage area inside and is the right mixture of too big/ too small. ALTHOUGH, the seating could be engineered better . my buddie sat sideways leaning his back on the suicide door and said "this is MUCH more comfortable, i could do quite a long road trip back here if the seats were facing like this" (i had thought of customizing the back seat area to fit this but it would be REALLY involved project, it would also allow for better storage in the back (feet facing the center console from an angle on both sides)). i do miss the 4x4 option and the look of the reg cab is unbeatable, so i say go for what suits your needs. there is lots of info stating the pros and cons of each system so its up to you and your needs.

if i could have my time back, id opt for the 4x4 reg cab with buckets and maybe a small trailer if i had to haul a sled or quad

i thought about a reg cab, but at the end of the day, as others have said, the extra area is great for grocery shopping, luggage when traveling, misc stuff that you don't wnat in the bed.

I love my Regular cab, but if Access Cab Short bed were an option with the 2.7L and 4x4. That's the truck I'd own.
