    Hello,

Long shot, but I know a few have done as I've dragged up some old threads but none have helped me answer my question.

Swapped out the bench seat for buckets, can't get either the airbag lights or passenger seatbelt light off.

I have the wiring harness from the bench hooked up to the wires in the truck. I have two dummy buckles plugged into both of the old bench seat buckles (passenger & driver). I have the weight sensor in the new passenger seat and it's plugged in. I have the seat position sensor hooked up with a steel plate to trick the system.

Why do I still have a flashing seatbelt light?

The airbag light I believe can only be reset by the dealer (true fact?)

List of what is plugged in:
    Passenger -
2 pin white/ grey for seatbelt
Grey/ black for seat weight sensor
    18 pin black for computer
2 pin black for position sensor
    10 pin black/ black connector

    Driver -
    2 pin grey/white for seatbelt
    2 pin black/black for seatbelt
    4 pin grey/ grey connector

Extra 2 pin that fits driver's seatbelt? I have plugged both of these into the driver seatbelt plug and no difference.

I can provide pictures if that helps.

And if anyone in the Montana/ PNW area needs/ wants a bench seat without the buckles or wiring harnesses...

    TIA

Also both yellow airbag plugs are plugged in to the truck.

I should also add the driver's seatbelt light works as it should, but the passenger seat flashes, regardless if someone sits in it. The chime strangely does not function for the passenger seatbelt anymore (thank GOD)

Seats were from a 2014 dcsb

Nope. I know you have to put in resistors to solve the airbag issue, but as far as I can understand it bypasses the chair airbags. I would like them to function.
As for the seat and seatbelt sensor, cannot figure out why. Everyone and everything I've researched tells me I've done everything right. Maybe when I solve the airbag issue it will go away?

Okay I think I'm at the same level of understanding as you - from what I read elsewhere it looks like the Bench Seat airbag and bucket seat are not the same part so the bucket airbag doesn't function when plugged into the bench's wiring harness.

I want a functioning seat airbag too lol I just put some 2013 buckets into my 2014 RC. I have some resistors coming to try out that trick for getting the airbag light to turn off. What I don't understand is why we have to tape a piece of metal to the magnetic rail sensor on the bench's wiring harness-- my understanding is that when the bench seat is moved all the way forward, that sensor is engaged from magnetic conduction and it turns the passenger airbag off (the dash airbag I would assume). When we tape metal to the sensor we're just telling the truck to turn off the airbag and I'm not sure why we would want to.

Also did you have an extra plug on the passenger bucket that went ununsed?

I was wondering about this too. More troubleshooting with and without the dummy metal bar for me I guess.

I've since moved and no longer have a garage, so sadly I will have to put this project on hold until I can really take it apart again and get into it. I think I'll probably be swapping the bench seat and bucket seat airbags if they just bolt on. If they dont, I think it would be more harm than help and would rather them just bypassed. As for now, I'm glad the seatbelts work, seats are bolted on solid and I don't have to listen to a chime.

I thought about that too but I don't know if ripping apart the seat will end well. When you ground down the seat belt how much did you have to take off and in which dimension? This am I was grinding the passenger buckle and I got it to the point where it slides easily into the female end but it takes the "push" button down with it and it won't latch.

I had to grind down the sides and the tip maybe an 1/8th of an inch. I took a little off the top of the buckle as well. It still doesn't fit quite right and I have to sorta press the button down while I insert the buckle. I could probably fix it and make it fit perfect, but now that I've used it 1000 times it doesn't slow me down.

I'll get a pic up later if that helps

I have a 2013 reg cab and I put buckets in mine but my airbag light works like it is supposed to. I did not use resistors or whatever that's about. I would get a code reader to reset your airbag light, as I don't believe disconnecting the battery works.(I used a Bluedriver) I followed this how to and have had none of the issues you are having. good luck.https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/bench-to-trd-bucket-swap-in-2006-tacoma-boom.307099/ my truck is in this post.https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...-bucket-seats-installed.504543/#post-15767679

Hey thanks for the info. So, did you plug your bench seat (harness) airbag plug into the bucket seats? I've got a code reader on the way to take a look, that's a good call.

I was able to get the bucket seat airbags to work with the bench swap.

I realized I had forgotten to transfer over the driver-side seat rail position sensor from the bench seat -> removed it and plugged into the bench wire harness in the truck, w/ a piece of steel taped to it.

    Bought an OBDLink SX, installed
OBDLink app, and paid for the Toyota Enhanced Diagnostic through the app ($9.99).

After getting all that installed and updating the firmware on the OBDLink SX, I was able to access the SRS module and clear that error code.

Dashboard airbag light is off, and the passenger on/off airbag light operates as it should when someone is in the passenger seat. Also cleared my TPMS light as an added bonus.

@slayer fan @ryfox0276 thanks for the help !

This is awesome news. I think I also only have one of the seat rail sensors plugged in, will have to see if the drivers side is still on the bench.

And so glad to hear clearing the SRS codes worked. Thanks!! Hoping other RC owners will find this thread useful

Had a bit of cash burning a hole in my pocket (thank you stimulus) so I finally got the OBD/USB scanner, paid for the enhanced diagnostics and boom! So freaking easy, everything works as it should now. Thank you @'14RC for doing the leg work.
Can't believe this had me stumped for months and it's all fixed in less than 5 minutes.
