191* seems a bit high. Using an infrared gun, the highest I've ever seen was about that during new gears break-in. Typical range for me is 110-150, with ~125 being normal.

Spent 6 days climbing in Indian Creek where I sent my first desert lead! My truck ended up basically being used as homebase for camp so I didn't get to have much fun driving around the area much. I did find entertainment in the Subarus cautiously navigating through the creeks and around rock when I'd just blast over them. Found out the Nest can sleep 3 and a dog, as long as nobody moves lol.

Left the climbing group Friday afternoon to meet up with @Squeaky Penguin @Wishbone Runner and @Night Eagle at the Toquerville falls. It was dark when I arrived and didn't take any pictures in the morning. From there we headed to the Grand Canyon. I can't recall the names of the places we went so I'm just going to drop photos.

I asked my geology friend about the columns of rock and why they are formed in a hexagon. Here was her answer. "It's a volcanic and it cooled extremely slowly so the mineral had time to form into its natural rhombus structure, it could be tonalite"

Kind of sketchy standing under them being that you're standing on columns that already fell..

The dogs found a rattlesnake on the hike down.this canyon. Fortunately they didn't mess with it. Neat to see how high the water used to be.

I had to leave Tuesday morning to head to Salt Lake to pick up my climbing rope that someone left in the pack and took home with them.. Noticed my brakes were feeling funny and found this.

I'd checked the driver side prior to the trip and just assumed the passenger was in similar shape so I didn't bother looking at it. I should have. 30 minutes in a Napa parking lot and I was back up and running.

Also topped off my rear diff since the pinion steal started leaking a lot. Can't really see in the picture but the axle housing is pretty wet.

Spent 11 days living out of the truck and was quite comfortable. I think a fridge is coming soon. Ice doesn't last long in my cooler when it's +100°

    Nice trip, Ryan!

Your first pic is from Toroweap, and the camp near the rim with the hike to the river is Whitmore Canyon. Those are two places I’ve been to A LOT! Brings back a bunch of great memories.

The road to Toroweap was a lot of fun with the new suspension! The road to Whitmore not so much.

Yeah, the last mile or so from the rim at Whitmore is super grindy coming down the lava flow. Totally worth it, though!

Nice stuff Ryan! I just got home myself. Will go though pics and start posting later this week.

Need to pick your brain on the roads around there sometime. I see there's tons more to explore.

It will be a few months before I pull the tank. If you still need it you can have it. I like helping fellow TW guys when I can. I’ll most likely get a complete tank from Jim’s and build the fuel cell. I want to be able to plug and play when I swap it. I’ll keep you posted. Peace!

Well finally got the Kings in and took the truck out to test them out. Things seem to be working well. I don't think I have any clearance issues anymore. I didn't notice a whole lot of difference with the Kings as I did from the springs, boxing the frame, shock relocate but the trails I was on weren't really high suspension compressing trails. Mostly little bumpy rocks.

Then shit hit the fan real quickly. Being a stay the trail advocate and not taking bypasses around obstacles I slowly began crossing a water hole and before I knew it I was in over the hood. I stopped and tried backing up with no luck. Water is already comming through the door seals so I tried going forward thinking maybe I'd be able to make it across. That idea failed. Now enough water has come in that my feet are getting wet. I quickly scrambled out through the window and somehow stretch across to the bank, avoiding falling in. Stripped off my shoes and pants and went in for the strap. Grabbed the strap and somehow rather quickly pulled the hitch pin and put the strap on that was under water. Finding the hole for the R key was a little tricky. Hooked the other end to my buddies 4r and headed back to get in. The window seemed much smaller trying to get back in without falling into the pit but I managed. Sat down in the puddle of water and threw it into reverse. Thankfully this worked and was able to get out without to much yanking from the 4r.

Now my airbag light is on and steering is stiff. Hopefully that's all that's wrong...

Steering likely cooled really fast and may have some water in the rack boots. Airbag is because the computer, or pretensioners shorted. Chances are drying it all out and then pulling the battery will solve that.

Now it won't start. I don't think I shut it off until I got home. Pressure washed it and went to pull it in the garage and all I get is a click. Hopefully I didn't cook the starter...

I think I would have been sol if I didn't have my buddy. I can't imagine a winch works too well under water... Guess I still had the hilift/come along option.

Chances are there is water in the starter. You should only need to pull it and clean it out. If you never rebuilt it, grab a rebuild kit off Amazon for $9 and rebuild it while you are in there. Had to get mud and water out of mine a bunch and it still is going with clean outs and a single rebuild.

I might try and find a higher output starter if that's the case. You know for the hybrid crawl box.

There are those mean green one's but they are $$$. But worth it for how much you put that clutch start cancel crawl box to work. :p
