I flooded my cab once, not fun!

You need some tires that actually have tread on them before trying to drive though mud.

If anyone was curious the Mean Green starters put out 2.8kw. The highest Denso I've seen is 2.0kw for the 3rz. Not sure if they are the same for the 3.4

I know the mounting is different. Opposite sides of the motor. Now for the internials I have no clue.

Had an appraiser come out on Monday and look at the truck. He said it's a total loss. Obviously I'll be buying it back and I can get started on cleaning and fixing shit.

First objective was to get the starter working again. This thing was a pita to finagle out around brake and fuel lines to come out the fender well. I didn't see any other way. Not sure why Toyota added coils into the brake line but they take up a lot of space! Once it was out I pulled it all apart and cleaned the contacts, commutator and brushes with a wire brush. Both bearings are toast but still spin so I threw it back together knowing I'll be doing it again soon but at least I don't need a hill to get it started now.

Next was to drop the skid and see what kind of damage I did earlier that day hitting a rock at pretty good speed. Everything appears fine other than the cam being off. Easy fix. The skid definitely did its job and is going to be seeing a sledge hammer once I have some ear protection.

Then I rechecked the lbj's the passenger side definitely needs to be replaced now. The driver isn't as bad but there is still play.

Then on to ripping out the interior. Only got as far as getting the carpet out.

Anyone know how these panels come off?

BTW the cold weather 3RZ starter is a beast and the 5VZ starter will not fit the 3RZ (tried already)

Yea, I've put too much money into it for it not to be. I always thought I'd be flipping it though when I needed it, not flooding it.

It also might become my home in the next month. Need to find a new place and there isn't much available around here right now.

You have to pull the plastic on the rear of the cab, as in that back panel and the strip of plastic at the top. then pop the cover off the top of the seat belt it's a 14mm. Screw at the very top of the panel where the coat hanger is. then just a bunch of plastic clips that pop off when you pull. Hope I got every thing.

Well I really hope they give you a pretty penny for it. I may think about insuring mine for more, but I'd really be insuring mods since the truck only cost me 2k. Kinda hard to insure mods with normal insurance because they're inherently valueless once you've used them. I insure the Cruiser for a lot but it's more of a collectors item and unmodded so it was pretty easy. If it turns out well for you I'll want to know your provider haha.

If you need any help of the electrical/mechanical side of things while your fixing her up tag me!

I'm anxious to hear what they say. Being in CO where 01-04 seem to list for top dollar I'm curious what they will offer. Hopefully I find out tomorrow.

    for out come.

Just be patient when taking apart the interior. It’s not bad. The plastic clips will test you.

I already said screw it to half the ones around the bezel for the spare tire tools.

Getting the interior panels off is easy! It’s getting them back on correctly that’s tricky. I tried for a minute. Then, this VVV

Going to steam pressure wash the carpet today and put it back in. Hopefully install some sound deadener before I put it back in. I'd imagine even with vinyl water would get under it and it should be pulled and cleaned.

Should work good. I cleaned and gave away my carpet after flooding my cab. Just prefer the vinyl for non-flood related mess cleanups. Haha.
