Yep. The driver side is always locked in though. It doesnt bind the passenger axle but still binds with the tcase a bit.

Huh my truck didn't have one of those but it looks like it's just there to prevent cavitation. Piggy is a good idea. At 5psi though an FMU would probably work great and is cheapo. Easy to try out at least. Walbros always whine until they die in my experience. I've had eh experience with them.

I'll have to look into one of those. I have the FPR referencing only boost, from my understanding it operates in a 1:1 ratio. Trying to pace myself on adding more power and spending more money. I need Kings in the front soon! I haven't noticed the sound of the Walbro yet.

Truck is around 60-70dB according to an app. It used to be around 80-90dB. I'm liking that.

Enough to make it a lot of fun!
Kinda sounds like the previous owner over torqued it to start with.

I think it was my fault. The washer never seated up against the head of the plug. The more I tighten it the more I wedged it in the hole. Anyway the old transfer case cover is installed. The new case looked brand new inside. My original looked like poop. I didn't clean much but there was a slight amount of wear on the gears that the chain meshes with not much but enough to feel.

I don't think my fpr is working correctly. I used the hose with the union which should see boost. I disconnected it and just vented it to atmosphere and had no change in afr in OL.

    Wow! That case looks awful.
Were you using redline fluid? If not, that red tint is definitely from metal and on metal fretting.

Valvoline synthetic. I've neglected my fluid changes in both the transmission and tcase. Trans didn't look near as bad as the tcase fluid though. Was waiting on an opportunity to replace the adapter output seal to do the fluids since it was leaking. Unfortunately I didn't have one on hand to put in when I had them separated but there was a pretty deep groove worn into the input shaft where the seal is. No leaks from the new case yet...

It survived about a 1000 mile trip to Utah! About 200 of that being dirt miles. I think the only issues are that the wastegate nipple put a hole in my hard ac line, relocated that to a spare port closer to the turbo side after trying to tighten the MarMount bolt up to find a balance of vibration and motor movement. It's pretty tight now but the vibrations are bearable. Only really notice them at less than 750rpm. The one bolt holding my manifold bracket snapped, kind of expected it to. I need to extend the bracket to some bigger bolt holes down on the block a bit more.

The turbo randomly started leaking again but I believe it has stopped. I think bouncing around on rocks and having the truck at odd angles restricts the return line. At least this is all I hope it is and not the seal again. I might try to find a bigger return line at some point.

My old transfer case had definitely been slipping for quite some time, I just always attributed it to be the locker ratcheting. The locker is a much different sound.

    Trip report tomorrow hopefully...

Started off the trip headed to Junction to meet up with @Night Eagle and @Squeaky Penguin. The truck made it over Berthoud pass and up Loveland Pass (long uphill pull) on I70 without a problem. Enjoying the added power from the turbo I was quite pleased at how things were going. About 2.5 hours into the trip the truck kicks out of cruise and stumbles but picks up again. I reset cruise and immediately after it dies. I coast to a stop between a guardrail and the whiteline after just having passed the previous exit. Not a fun place to be with cars whizzing past at 80mph. Fortunately the guard rail ended in about 50yds and I was able to put the truck in second gear and crank using the starter to propel the truck forward. I'd crank for 30 seconds and wait to let things cool down. I eventually made it to where I was past the rail and could start diagnosing my problem. I initially thought the truck was telling itself to shutoff because it would sputter and start to fire but then nothing. So it was getting fuel and spart for a second then nothing. I disconnected the FPR and had fuel in the rail. Checked the EFI fuse, swapped relays, checked resistance on the crank position sensor. Everything was checking out. I was at the point of giving up and called Brett and Leo and they decided to backtrack 45min to come see if they could give me a hand.

I pulled the FPR again and noticed I had very little gas coming out compared to. It was becoming more evident that the pump wasn't pushing fuel. Once Brett and Leo arrived I had one of them crank while I checked to make sure I was getting voltage to the connector, I was. This left the only option to be the fuel pump not working. Brett fortunately had a spare tank so we decided to drop the tank. We pulled the pump and discovered that I hadn't locked in the connector to the pump and it wiggled loose. We put it back together all being confident it was fixed and we were good to go. Started cranking it over and nothing. Unbolted the FPR again and had fuel this time. So now I'm not getting spark. Pulled a plug and grounded it to confirm and nothing. About to give up and call for a tow Brett happened to notice that the crank position sensor wasn't plugged in. Apparently I forgot to plug it back in after testing  Truck fired right up after that was connected.

Finally on the road again after a 3hr delay. Being late and getting dark we settled on a campsite within eyesight of the interstate, not ideal.

We headed towards the Copper Globe mine exploring different spurs and overlooks along the way. We noted a great campsite right on the edge, with an incredible view but being early in the day it would be for another trip.

Once at the mine we discovered a "historic wood pile". I'm not sure if any of you have ever witnessed such a thing but it is one of beauty!

Next we headed to Eagle Canyon and towards camp to meet up with @Wishbone Runner

Woke up, rather crawled out of the Nest as I got very little sleep from likely the windiest night I've ever camped in. We packed up and headed towards the Devil's Racetrack and Fix It pass. The only technical trails of the trip.

We set up camp hoping to escape the wind along the banks of the San Rafael River. Finally a calm quite night.

The next day the rest of the group did some hiking in Devil's Canyon. Not having a completely healed leg yet I decided to drive around and explore a bit more of the area by vehicle. I ended up getting snowed out of both spurs I explored before reaching there ends.

After reconvening with the group we decided to head to the campsite on the edge of the cliff we found on day 2. Great choice!

I did end up a little breezy here in the morning but it was definitely worth the views.

Fortunately, nothing exciting to note on the drive home.

Looks like an awesome trip. I hate doing it because I do this for 40+ hours a week at work but lately I’ve been putting in ear plugs when I camp and it’s super windy. Works great lol
