I need to figure out the stalling issue before spending more time making another. Other than it not being square this one should be fine for awhile. The filter doesn't block the inlet as I initially thought it would.

The metal I am stashing is thicker gauge stuff so you should be better off. Just let me know when you are ready.

Think I solved my stall issue that the new airbox caused. Installed a RKX hybrid valve, 75% recirculating 25% to atmosphere. I don't like the atmosphere vent facing up, just begging to catch dirt but I don't see a good way to avoid it.

Here's 75% to atmosphere. It still stalled the truck so swapped to 25% atmosphere. 25% is almost hard to hear in the cab.

I can hear the turbo whine but it's not very noticeable. Not sure if a video will pick it up or not.

Just got home from a 2500 mile round trip to Idaho for an interview. Truck did pretty well. I noticed I was getting some odd tire wear on the way home and discovered a bad upper bj. I said F it and drove the rest of the way home. That tire already has some sidewall damage and should be covered under Discounts protection plan. Could have very easily replaced it on the side of the road if I had too. Just did both of them in less than an hour.

Turbo did great too. Not sure how I haven't noticed any detonation yet. I'd imagine pulling some of the long hills with only 13:1 afr things would get pretty hot in the cylinder. @Speedytech7 you questioned what my timing was under this condition and it's between 15-17. I need to be over 4k rpm for it to richen up to 12 or lower.

I do have a small exhaust leak somewhere. I'm hoping it's not a crack in the manifold. I think my best tank of gas was 19 and worse was 17. Not too bad for doing 75-80 mph.

I discovered a crack in the rear of the Wildernest. The hybrid GFC/Wildernest may come to fruition this winter.

Your computer is certainly noticing detonation if it's hovering around 16 degrees of advance. But all things considered for a 13AFR (bad news bears) could be a lot worse. You need something to richen it up a bit. Boost up hills around 2800 to 3750 with my truck got me 19-23 degrees of advance and that's when it wasn't pinging. When it was pinging it would back down to 12-15

I did discover my winch isn't working. Fortunately it was when I went to move a tree off the trail and not get unstuck from something.

Will the computer see a ping event and learn from that so as to not encounter that situation again? Or does it need to detect it and then retard the timing?

It is retarding timing to the point it no longer detects ping correct?

I wrote a huge post on this one time. But according to the Toyota EFI manual from that generation. The computers only moethod of fighting ping is to reduce ignition timing, and it jumps down to a known safe number, like 10 degrees commonly, and begins counting up by a half degree every second until it records a minor ping event then it stops counting until a major ping is detected then this whole cycle starts again. It's a bit more complicated than that because it has multiple safetys and fallbacks depending on what fuel cell it is referencing on the map. But that basic understanding will help you get it to count up again cause all you really need to do is let off the gas to make it reference timing for low load and then get back on the gas slowly. The computer is designed to meet emissions and doesn't understand that you're increasing cylinder pressure, it thinks there's so much airflow because you decreased in elevation. It doesn't know that increasing fuel could decrease knock too. Basically every instinct that computer has built in is absolutely wrong for boost. This is why we always have to fight back with piggybacks or standalones

Do you have an electronic copy of the EFI manual by chance?
