Stuff and things that make it better.
What part of the axle housing failed? Wondering if it's the same spot mine did.

    That's extra shitty.

I need to go look at mine and see if it cracked right next to the repairs.

Without pulling the bedsides, there's no way you're going to reinforce that piece correctly.

Yes, but like Brett said the fender needs to come off and that whole brace needs to be remade out of something thicker than 18 guage. I honestly didn't expect it to hold up. Might be able to get away with plating it but I think it's just going to tear at the end of the plate again.

    Where can I order this?

I remember seeing a black extra cab on Google a while back, and it had a military trailer as a bed. Seems like this would be a good alternative to the stock bed. It even had a topper of sorts on it.

more on this idea, i think that @POSTacoMike is planning on putting a logger bed on his truck once finishes up his cab conversion. real similar to military trailer bed.

I think some sort of simple bedcage that ties the frame into the bedrails would work and be a lot simpler than a custom flatbed/tray/military trailer thing.

Guessing Ryan wants to keep the nest too.

Or burn it to the ground. I know the feeling.

that looks awesome, this is the one that @POSTacoMike is using. not sure when he'll actually get his on though as he's only just gotten the cab bolted down onto his frame (did a extra to dbl cab swap)

Yeah I agree. Taking the load off the bedsides is all that needs done. Sort of. And not overloading the bed in general.

This thing is halfway to a Wildernest. Just needs to open 180 and add the tent. Probably add a tailgate to so I don't need a ladder to crawl in it.

    Flatbed next winter maybe...

I don't want to add more weight though. I think that's half the problem. Idk how expo'd out second gens aren't having the same axle housing issues unless it's thicker. Or the mall just isn't as tough on them.

you should take a look at the flatbed that Grind Hard plumbing put on their tacoma. not exactly the direction that i would go but i don't think it weighed any more than the stock bed.
