Many of you by now know there's another "extended warranty" campaign for the driveshaft/ujoint vibration issue that the 2nd gens have had. I've had 2 separate repairs done over the past few years to fix this, 1 by a dealer and 1 by an independent shop. I called and talked to toyota customer service and faxed all my required paper work to them.

Just today I received an email saying they'd received everything and would now need 45 days to review and respond.

So my question is, is this typical? If you've ever asked toyota for money back for anything how long did it take from request to finally getting paid?

    Hi
I had the leaf springs replaced out of my own pocket and later on found out about the recall. Just like you I sent in my paperwork and in around one month I had a check for the exact amount I had paid. Hopefully it will go well for you. Good luck!!

I'm in the process of submitting a claim for the leaf spring recall too. I haven't sent it in yet, but I'm hoping I have success like JSB10.

@JSB10 - Do you happen to have any scans of what you submitted? Did you submit by fax or some other method?

Hi JohnnyRed I went to my mechanic who did the work and he gave me a copy of the bill showing total cost of his labor, Toyota also asked for part numbers for the new leaf springs which came from the Toyota dealership, and I had to provide a copy of the Check from my bank. All this I mailed in and received a check for what I had paid. Very pleased how Toyota responded. I am currently waiting for a frame replacement in the coming weeks for my 05 Tacoma. Hopefully this goes well too. I think you shouldn't have any problem from Toyota for reimbursement I would just check back with them if it takes too long. Good luck!!

    Thanks!

I saw that some people's requests were denied and I suspect it's because they didn't have a clear "Condition-Cause-Remedy" statement on their invoice. Or at least that's what I think based on what Toyota asked me to send in.

My main challenge may be that I had a shop build a spring pack, instead of replacing them with off the shelf parts. Also, that my truck came from Canada, but I'm working with Toyota US.

I have the receipt, bank statement, and title ready to fax in. Hope it all goes well!

When I had one of my rear leafs break I called and asked about it. The recall on the leaf springs was a massive amount of vehicles and when I called Toyota they said that I may or may not get reimbursed. I just stuck it out and waited for them to replace it under recall.

If the scope of the recall for this is smaller than the one for the leaf springs, I would imagine that it would be easier to get reimbursed for. If they're anything like dealing with my local Toyota dealer you may have to be firm with them, but it'll get done. Good luck OP.

I replaced the rear springs on my truck about a year before the recall came out. Cracked drivers side leaf.
Ordered a set of heavy duty springs from wheeler's, installed them, and all was well.
After the recall came out I sent in for reimbursement. I sent the original receipt from wheeler's with my order, name, address, but that was not good enough for toyota.
They wanted proof of payment and all I had was the receipt. Normally that would be good enough but not with them. It went back and forth for awhile and then they declined me.
About $400 with shipping. Gone. Still a little bitter about it. Fuckers.

Just got my reimbursement today for the leaf spring recall. I sent it in on 12/29, so it took them quite a while to process it.

I first contacted them via e-mail, then faxed the documents to them. I submitted a copy of:
-Repair Invoice (with clear Condition Cause Remedy statement)
-Statement from my bank showing that the payment was taken out of my account
-Title showing I owned the truck

$494.11 back for me to put to use on new mods. I'm thinking 4Runner brake swap...
