Same here...most of my mods are for functionality.

But every once in a while I'm tempted to do something 'different' that not many other folks have (hood scoop graphic). Gotta 'personalize' the truck a bit.

My husband and I have 4 toys (vehicles) - and it's also hard to 'share the mods' amoungest all 4 vehicles (laugh).

If you are modding your truck for others, you are modding for the wrong reason. I mod my stuff because I want it to be like I want it. I could care less if someone else likes/dislikes my mods to MY truck.

I like the sleeper stuff as well...nothing like a well appointed vehicle that still retains the stock attributes.:)

OR for me either, may need an elevator to get out. I am also not a big fan of blacked out wheels etc... But if others like them on their trucks great, just not on my truck. I have too many toys and like to mod all of them in my own way.

I am considering the same mod myself, the 5100's seem to be the way to go. In my case not for the lift but for the handling aspect of things. I may do the supercharger some day myself but I do not really have the tacoma for speed and power however I do have a weakness for both.

Well I'm 37 and this is my first taco, and the first real vehicle that I have really wanted to mod. My last truck was a big 95 4x4 z71, sure I did some tires and such, but the list of mods that you can do to tacos is crazy. My wife thought i was insane pounding on my suspension and installing new shocks...to date I have done 5100's, tsb, 4 speakers, dynomat, sirius, sharkfin adapter, bed mat bolt, turned off door beeps when unlocking, and I just got bed rings in the mail...maybe this weekend I install those. I think it is a lot of fun. I am looking forward to getting on a trail sometime soon, haven't had a lot of opportunities. Kind of strange how three kids under the age of 10 keep you busy, and the lawn, and the job, and the..you get the idea.

44 : Feel 24! Have done about $1500 in mods already and still going strong. Oh, the truck is approaching 2 weeks old and still under 500 miles. Does buying a camper to haul count as a mod? Then add another $10K. Whoo-ahhh!

    Too few to list.
I'm 33 and so far I've done (in order) TRD Cai, tint, and muffler. I've done little DIY mod like the foglamps on/off, seatbelt, and emblem delete.

    Future mods are:
    5100's and better O/R tires ($1000)
A shell, tube steps, maf calibrator and a grill ($1900)

Past 50 and have put on N-Fab sidesteps, Hunter bull bar, Tailgate clamp, window tinl legal, and a Cat Converter shield to make it real tough to slide under and make off with my cats.
Oh yeah it has 250 miles on it so far.
Age has littl to do with mods.
This is my everyday truck so only a few more on this one.

My play truck is an 03 Lightning that has many many mods on it.
Been playing on the road courses with that one. In fact I will have it out tomorrow at Firebird for some fun.

Another 42 year old here... Back in the day I had a Toyota Truck I bought used from a friend. It was a clean bone stock 1982 Toyota 4X4 long bed in charcoal grey. I put a 6" suspension lift and a 3" body lift with 38.5" Super Swampers. We used to go mudding up in Azusa canyon.

Years and many cars later (modded ones), I am married with a baby boy, mortgage payment and two dogs... I need to be somewhat practical. I thought long and hard what would be a good fun vehicle. Thinking back to my old '82, it was a truck that I loved and had longer than my other cars.

I just bought a Magnetic Grey DC LB TRD Sport (don't really need 4wd), ordered a the Toytec Ultimate 3" lift, 17"X9" Moto Metal 955B's and 285-70-17 Nitto TGs. Because of the short wife and young boy, I got the OEM tube steps and had them powder coated semi-gloss black.

    Too me, this is practical!

I just turned 50 and really any mods I have done to any of my trucks over the years have been restricted to something helps it live longer and that's about it. On this '09 I will try to do something to it to get the fuel mileage to something semi-reasonable and maybe a camper shell someday. All the money spent on boats, motorcycles, and trucks has been a huge waste. If I had it to do over again, I would not spend anything modifying or buying all these things.

I am 37 everything is paid for, so to quote somebody "I have lived like no one else, now it is time to like like no else" get'n-rdy to lift her, new tires & rims. Stereo is not bad enough yet, I need to be able to pull up next to the rap boys and make them listen to some classic music such has Hank Williams JR. You are only as old as you let yourself get. Plus my cute girlfriend upgrade, has bigger tires on her Gen 1 tacoma then my Gen 2. Can't let that happen!
