Can anyone confirm if this just normal operation or if I have a gremlin that’s activating a relay that shouldn’t be.
While driving , I have a random relay click that is coming from around the centre console and or behind the dash under the steering wheel near my right knee. It’s the exact same relay sound as the relay click you hear on the passenger side when you engage and disengage 4wd.
But the relay is in a different spot.
It’s driving me nuts. There doesn’t seem to be any rhyme or reason for a the click . Sometimes there is two clicks in sequence, and other times it’s one click . Sometimes it will click 4-5 times in 30 seconds, and then you won’t hear it all for a few minutes.
First noticed it on the highway with cruise control was on and thought it was that. Turned cruise off. Still does it. Then I thought maybe the heated seats relay . Nope, Turned those off and it’s still doing it . Thought it was the heat or fan kicking in and out. Turned the hvac system completely off, still clicking .
Then I started thinking maybe it was the radar system for the driver assist functions acting up. So I shut all that off while driving and it’s till making the random click click .
Maybe it’s just normal operation of something. But if it is, I want to know what it is because it’s annoying. Lol It seems like something is malfunctioning, but maybe not ‍♂️
    Anyone else hear this ?

Only other operation not mentioned I can recall is that I hear an actuator click when engaging/disengaging the mirror heater button. But that's never been on its own, only when physically using the button.

Oh there will be some mods all right
If you hear it again take a look at your airbag light for the passenger seat. I was driving along one day and kept hearing a clicking and couldn't figure it out at first and then I realized the light that tells you your passenger airbag is activated kept turning on and off

I've noticed a relay click if my cruise control activates the brakes but that's more near my left knee. Can't think of anything that I've heard from the center.

Never once I heard a random click when driving my taco. That’s an interesting one.

I hear mine on bumpy, curvy roads. Thought is was something to do with front seatbelts. that's where it seems the clicking is coming from for me.

Sounds like ac door actuator. If I recall I think it still opens and closes when the system is off .
