Yeah...but then he would have to remember to check the notification, so we are back to square one. We've got a Dora on our hands.

OP, how do you remember to bring your keys when you head out? This is one of those rare ones where it's both highly facetious, and yet also a serious question.

I’ve been struggling to bite my tongue and now I guess I’m failing. And this is meant in no way as shade thrown to the OP. But, it is so automatic for me to lock my truck when I get out that sometimes my family gets irritated because I lock it before they have a chance to get stuff out.

I think most people are that way. Get out, close the door, click the FOB. Things I forget are things that are not routine. An errand I forgot to run. To call someone back later. That one thing at the grocery store.

Things that are routine become almost subconscious, like breathing.

Purchased Toyota Certified, with Vijay bumpers, additional lights, and Falken Wildpeaks on Fuel rims. Prev owner apparently painted the grill.
Right there with you. Habit is to lock the truck and pocket the key. At work I have to use a fob that is on my truck key to get inside the building. Have needed to do so since Feb of 2009. The "lock it, pocket" habit is so strong I almost always have to get the key back out of my pocket after walking 20 steps to the office door.

This can be true, but it can also be a habit not to do so. My wife never locks her vehicle and it's the reason I won't let her drive my truck. She does have the automatic key with the lock/unlock buttons (Rav4) but that didn't change the forgetfulness.

Habits are habits one way or the other, but I don’t know anyone who locks their truck on some days and not others. It’s one of those things where people do the same thing every time. I guess the point I was trying to make is that if you have to actively think about / remind yourself about doing small things like that, how can you operate in this world? I can think of a million things that would be huge concerns. Turning off the stove when you’re done cooking, for example.

I like the sound of locking/unlocking the truck so I'm guilty of multiple presses....:anonymous:
Habit forming and it's always locked....:notsure:
Hard key probably helps as well...
