Shot the 45/70 cartridges i reloaded. They kick harder, all rounds cycled and fired so thats good but leverlution factory ammo has less powder than my reloads and kicks less.

I still have about 4 rifles that I haven't found the right combination for, but then guess close to 100 rounds easily of various loads to try for them.20201231_172812.jpg

I loaded up some 9MM, 3 different weights of Unique.

As soon as the rain quits, I am off the range to see which works the best.

Since it continued to rain, and I was at the bench...

I loaded 250 rounds of "light" .357 for competition shooting this year. :D

Headed out to one of the local desert shooting holes nice and early this morning, a brisk 27 degrees and windy.
Spent about two hours scouring for brass over a few of the popular spots tracking shooting patterns and ended up with 122 - 9mm (+1 live round), 22 - .223, 3 - 5.56 and a couple of .45's .380's and one .40 S&W.

Not too shabby! I need to take a rake next time to help agitate the dirt, I found a lot sifting through with my hands that way.

I've got another spot to go check out, maybe tomorrow or Monday.

Found the plastic bricks in good shape too, just needed a wash.

    Not bad for free.

Thought i would follow up on the rice for media experiment.
White rice, vibrating bowl style, 3hours, real dirty once fired .45 brass.
It did clean it some just not to my liking.
Left a bit of junk inside and out of the brass.
Out of 90 shells, 5 were really dirty outside and 8 had rice stuck in primer hole.
Even after a Dawn soap wash, still a bit dirty. (last pic)

Hit petco store and got the last bag of Kaytee walnut bird litter they had!
They had the dragon litter, just looked like a finer/smaller grind.

Dropped by Sportsman Warehouse just for kicks.
Thats just weird. Reloading section shelves are maybe 20% stocked if that... creepy.

I'd go insane out there with a metal detector!
There's more steel case laying around than brass. Just in the areas I gathered I could have filled a five gallon bucked with steel case.
Should I be picking any of that up too? To my knowledge there isn't any merit to it, right?

Not to mention all the shot shells, it's nuts.

There aren't this many out there, but you get the idea.

Anybody here interested in some .40S&W brass? I have a bag of ~450pcs that I am never going to reload. Been tumbled and some de-primed. If anyone wants it, you pay shipping and they're yours.

Right you would need a metal detector that only beeps for brass, not sure i have seen that before, but you never know... someone needs to get on that.

As far as i know no steel for reloading, maybe some nickle cases, dont quote me on that.

I took some pics a few years back at a local shooting spot, Coyote Butte, seemed like the entire ground was nothing but shot shells.
Locals started a cleanup out there and it helped tons.

Be nice if folks would pick up after themselves, be less areas that get closed.
We had a half ways nice public shooting range with toilet untill someone shot up the toilet, years back.

    Humans are punks.

That's tempting and a nice offer. I may inventory see what I have and possibly take you up on that if not already gone. I bought a bunch of once fired just don't recall how many. I think I might have over a 1k

You can have them, I not only purchased a bunch but remember that I traded 1000 9mm for 1000 40 S&W before I even had a pistol. Come to think of actually why I purchased a 40 S&W..:anonymous:
