I'm running into fitment issues with the cat on my 95 Tacoma with the 3.4 V6. I'm doing some fairly major suspension modifications to the truck and I'm needing to know if I can effectively move the cat about a foot toward the rear of the truck without any ill effects? From what I have read, the cat is suppose to be close to the exhaust manifold, but I don't think a 1' increase in distance would be detrimental to the performance of the engine and electronics. I'll probably have to extend the rear O2 sensor wires, but that is no big deal.

a few inches shouldn't matter but a foot could since the sensor is reading exhaust straight out the engine so keep the forward o2 where it is and move the cat and rear sensor together.

you got nothing to lose by trying it and see how it runs and if it hurts mpg

So leave the front sensor where it sits?

I'm going to attempt to keep it as close as possible, but the thing is so big that it's going to be tricky to squeeze everything in together.

Cats need to be hot to function correctly. I think you would be fine. Might not be ideal but probably. Will not hurt.
