haha yup - I agree. I love winter here in MA (Central MA) from November to December, then I cant wait for spring from January to April. This winter has been especially tough and is really testing my patience and in general just wearing everyone down. My whole household has a super case of spring fever starting to settle in.

Don't forget about looking with federal, state, or local government too. Here's what I tell all of the Interns that come for each summer where I work: Finish school and get your degree - get a job with the Feds that gives you a retirement package in 20 years and then do what you really like...

I don't know what you do or what skill sets you have, but the gov't needs all sorts of skill sets and you still typically will get a decent retirement package with medical. As for where to live, it's all about what you really like. I'm in CT, have been all my life, but am ready to go somewhere with a shorter winter. Snow was fun in my younger days but now it's just another chore. I personally would live anywhere from Virginia to north Georgia no more than 1 hr inland.

Definitely do your homework on a major move, especially out of state or region. Cost of living can change unbelievably. I love visiting Colorado, but it is a very expensive place to live. Things to check - cost to rent or buy a house, utilities, taxes, insurance, food - it all adds up.

It really depends on what you're looking for. I've lived on the East Coast and have never felt the urge to return, even for a visit. Western CO, Utah, Arizona... is where I would do some job hunting if I were you.

Utah rules. I left Florida 8 years and never looked back. There is so much to see and do here it ridiculous. The south is flat and boring in comparison. I've been back a few times and can't wait to leave.

Can't really say I know anything about Dresser, but I know there is a valve manufacturing company called Flowserv here. They have a decent sized machining facility, if that is what you do.

Traded the 2015 TRD Pro 6spd Supercharged on a PowerWagon and could not be happier. My 2011 Tacoma with the TX Baja package (Added by me) is still treating me great. My 1985 Toyota never skips a beat.
Well the Dakota's have cheep land, some jobs etc out there I understand.

Iowa has Job's but the land is expensive. The cost of living is not bad.

Missouri is pretty nice, if you stay away from the city's.

Kansas is nice, but there isn't much industry aside from the citys.

Illinois sucks, Nebraska is well.. BORING..

    Good luck man!

UPS in Iowa wasn't a bad place to work, the pay wasn't great at first but the benefits were good and the Union was good.

The company I work for is hiring truck drivers, if that interests you. They are also hiring for North Dakota. It shouldn't be too hard for anyone to find a job in North Dakota. I hear nothing but bad things about that place though. The money is good, it's just a long ways from anything and the winters are brutal.

Hey Dalton092, I think Dresser/GE will be the lesser for letting you go. You've already got a lot of us interested in your success. You could even entertain a career in public relations? I have a feeling that whatever you decide, or where you relocate to, you'll do well. Good luck to you!

Well, you could look in the NE. Vermont, NH, Maine, upstate NY. You don't have to be in big cities at all, although finding employment in a rural area could be challenging. Also be careful to factor in things like state taxes, property taxes, etc etc.

If it was me, I'd be looking west. Flagstaff is a modest sized college town. Snows there, but more importantly it usually doesn't stay. And it's really a short distance to higher mountains where it does.

Colorado, on the western side of Denver, or anywhere on the Front Range you could find work would meet your goals.
