Getting all my equipment back in my truck, including a 4.5 Farad capacitor. I recall having a concern about long-term battery drain from parasitic resistance in the cap, as I don't drive the truck much.

So my thought is to have a relay or contactor activate it when the rest of the devices activate from the REM wire of the head unit. This presents a new issue though, and that is inrush current that will probably cause issues as the battery is basically running the starter and cap in the same moment (creating an LC circuit). An easy workaround is just having a switch I manually flip on and off to control the cap contactor.

Has anyone played with this idea? Are there ready-made audio "soft-starts" out there?

Yes, thank you for the recap from the guy who got a C+ in Physics 1...

A bigger cap the better. I wouldn't re-buy something smaller than 10x what I have now, but it visually works (voltmeter built in) for shaving the peaks of bass and being closer to the load than the battery.

Can we get back on topic?
