If I were a store owner, I would prefer camo over a black trench coat.

We have one scary dude around here with a trench coat and untied black army boots clogging around.
    Doesn’t bother anyone..

Went to night school in the mid 80s. Small, liberal arts college. College was "green" then although no one knew what green was. E.g., a classmate started the recycling movement on campus during my first year.

Became friends with a fellow who went to school during the day, a former commodities trader from Chicago. He owned part of a duck blind. Found out I was a hunter. So we'd hunt ducks in the morning and then I'd go to work. After work, I'd go to school.

One night, someone tried to break into my car. After that, I never left anything, e.g., my shotgun, in it. One day, after hunting in the morning, I showed up one night at the first lecture, sat down, laid my shotgun in its case behind me on the desk. Never thought a thing about it. Prof, who was my friend later, gave me the stink-eye. Oh, heavens, did he give me the stink-eye!

Next time, I waltzed into the library, told the counter clerk the story, asked if she could put the case on the ground behind the counter. Clerk was apprehensive. I said "you want me to tote it around class tonight?" Case went over the counter and she laid it at her feet, out of sight. I came back later and picked it up and went home.

After that it was routine. During duck season, I'd hand the case to the clerk when I arrived, retrieve it at the end, just like it was a library book. Granted the college cops were about 1 mile away, and the walk from the car to the library was 100 yards, but no one--no students, faculty, or staff, ever said anything or called anyone. Never had a campus lock-down. No 911 calls. No drama. No nothing. Just a guy with his gun going to class at a "greenie" college.

Cannot recall what I did with the ducks.

I remember when it was 50cent and gas was always around a dollar something and you could still make over 20bucks an hour as a professional something laborer and a good quality 4 bdr 3bath 2 car garage house on high ground was around 80k and the newspaper had its own 5page plus section for jobs.
    Those were the days.

I remember when the frame would outlast the skin.

Shit man I remember collecting bottles (coke 12 oz and believe it or not 32 oz coke glass bottles): recycle paid 3 cents for the 12 oz and 5 cents for the 32 oz.
