The one time I got away with wising off to my mom. She said "well who makes a mess of the bathroom?" and I said "your daughter"

YEA I remember that. The string would break, the ball would break something, and I got a spanking with that paddle.

1963, I got out of high school and went to work in a structural steel fabrication plant. Twelve hours five days a week and five hours on Saturday. I was rolling in overtime dough, had a great girl friend, a Ford Fairlane 289 w/four barrel, have never been stronger and not a care in the world. The world was different and it was a great time.

Oh the world was deffinately different! Those were good times and I'm not as "experienced" as you born '66. :hattip: We could take off on bikes all day after all the chores were done and as long as we were back home by dinner nobody ever worried. Now my daughters, both in their 20's, take off driving somewhere and all we do is worry. I remember I had just turned 19 and was in the Army I took off from Va and drove to Alabama then across the South and up to Co no gps or cell phone just me and an atlas. Good luck with that today. My wife giggles at me when we plan our camping trips and I reach for the atlas now.

Nefhbor has had 2 vehicles torn down now 1 for a couple years the other for about a year. Says he had all the parts. They pull up the driveway, the garage doir goes up, door down never see them unless they have to do something. Rhis is all tear not just cause it’s cold. It doesn’t bother me I just don’t get it

I live outside....yard work, cleaning a vehicle, working on a vehicle, building something, fixing something. I practically live in my garage. I have one next door neighbor who's outside lot as well. That's it. Except for the occasional yard being mowed, I see nearly no one.

Remember when stores where closed on Sundays?

You could go do doughnuts in the empty parking lot and leave lots of skid marks:anonymous:

I remember as a 19 year old in my International Scout. Me and a buddy went to the UP of Michigan. Miles of two tracks- logging roads. Got directions form a local to a remote 35’waterfall. Needless to say we got lost. Broke out the trusty Boy Scout compass. No matter which way we turned, we were going north. After about 30 minutes we got out of the truck, WTF, where are we? As soon as we got out of the truck that needle spun around. We did find the waterfall eventually, it was worth it.

In the late fifties Mort Sahl who ended his act with, "Is there any group out there that I have not insulted?" He was the first comedian to record a comedy album (vinyl disk). In 1960, Time magazine (it used to be something) put him on the cover. His act would have to change today or a mob would attack him.

My dad used to let me drive in empty lots when I was 12. Taught a couple of my old girlfriends how to drive in a similar manner.
