That reminds me of the 7th Grade. The school board decided we needed a handbook, with all of the school rules, in it. It was the 7th Grade History teachers responsibility to read the book to us.

I remember Mr. Davis reading a rule that said “No Knives”. He then said, “Now boys, that means nothing over 7 or maybe 8 inches. That does not mean you can’t bring your pocketknife to school”. Mr. Davis was a good man. I still think of him often.

I hate Spam to this day 'cuz my mother would broil sliced Spam down to a shoe leather, or maybe even roofing shingles, texture. :puke:
Spam and instant mashed potatoes are the only two foods I told my wife to NEVER try to feed me when we got married.

... I've often pondered how my Mom could be such a lousy cook when Grandma (her Mom) was an unbelievably GREAT cook.

I remember the FINA station, by my house. Like you said, they checked the oil, cleaned the windshield and checked the tires. They also gave us kids a piece of chewing gum.

They had a machine outside, that dispensed bottled soft drinks, for some change and they sold packs of planters peanuts and cheese crackers inside. That was it. No latte. No hot dogs. No sandwiches. No Icees.

My wife is Jenny. Before I came along, she was Jessie’s girl. When we were dating, Jennys number was 867-5309. We have a daughter, named Stacy, so Jenny is also Stacy’s mom.

Jenny has a sister, Roxanne, that did some unspeakable things, when she was younger. Roxanne ran around South Chicago with a man by the name of Leroy Brown. He was a real tough character.

Leroy Brown and Roxanne settled down, got married and today they own a flower shop. They also teach Sunday school and sing in the church choir.

In high school the record was 8 in a Japanese Nova... Two in the front buckets, five in the back, and one laying on the laps of the 5...
If you thought it was slow... it was a lot slower with 8 teenagers in it...
