I have that album, but mine has the pencil in the ear. Never seen it with the alternate cover.

I remember when I could walk out the door on Saturday morning, without anything in my hands, not touch a battery or AC powered device of any kind all day, and still find some fun without breaking any laws.

Hey environmentalists, I think we could lower our carbon footprint below current targets by just eliminating some of the entertainment based usages, and leave my internal combustion vehicles alone. And the kids might just end up happier to boot!

I remember being so poor I thought the kids in China and India had it made. In the late 1960s my mom would buy us 8 or 10 loaves of plain white bread 4 for a $1. When you were hungry, we would load up on that.
She bought expired meat or stuff that was full of gristle. She would make something she called potpie which was basically boiled potatoes, some hamburger and a thick paste made with flour we would have to eat for days. We would pop and fill a grocery bag with greasy popcorn made with lard and eat that for days for a snack. Always wondered why we were always bound up inside. Never went to school hungry though.
I had a dog, but it ran away because the neighbors fed it better. We couldnt do that though. She did what she could with what we had.

I saw that cover too back then..that's the version they sold in stores like Walmart and Best Buy. Not sure if the actual songs were edited as well.

Wiki just lists "alternate cover art" so I think the songs are untouched. Mine likely came from Bestbuy.. I never bought CD's at Walmart, and I didn't start buying from Amazon until 2000.

I probably got mine at Circuit City or Newbury Comics, a local retailer

My first “real” job involved cooking these inferno heat bombs. And the cash register only took the final total order $ amount, you had to total up the order with pencil and paper.

When I first started buying CDs, I got many of mine from Circuit City and Strawberries (FYE). Later was more Newbury Comics and Best Buy. I have a couple albums with Best Buy exclusive tracks, before they stopped selling CDs. Unfortunately, I'm forced to get many from Amazon now. When I'm in the Boston area, I'll stop by In Your Ear to browse through their stuff. I've found some good stuff for cheap there.

Yup we had a Strawberries next town over as well, right across from CC. I did buy some at Best Buy for those reasons, such as Powerman 5000 "Builders Of The Future". And yeah, though some just weren't around in the first place. I recently got a Chris Holmes disc from his site but it's shipping from Europe somewhere.

Don't think I'v been to In Your Ear before

There are 2 locations, one in Boston (Brighton), and one in Warren, RI. The one in Warren is smaller, sells a lot of new and used. The one in Brighton is mostly used I think, worth checking out.

I remember this at the Wonder Bread Outlet store. It was over by the Voke school across from the river...

One day a week (Tuesdays ?) it was .10 cents a loaf for the oldest bread. It sold fast and you had to be there early.
The loaves were as long as your elbow to your finger tips.

I never thought twice about it.... It wasn't so much that we were "poor" but it was the best deal to be had !

We had a "Toast-tite" machine that clamped the bread between two metal plates that you put over the flame on the kitchen stove. With a slice of tomato and a couple strips of bacon, It made the most delicious grilled cheese you've ever had, guaranteed !

My old man used to say "Before you die, this loaf of bread will cost you five dollars"

......and Of course, I thought the old man was crazy. :sadviolin:

Guess I know now what he knew then ! :(

    "WHY ?? Because I was 13 but you ain't been 40"

This reality is starting to become a bummer.....
