I can't recall if the gas cap was tethered on my 89 Olds, but I know it wasn't on my 78 Buick. The loose gas cap was very easy to "stuff" into the filling nozzle so that I didn't have to hold/squeeze it while filling.

I mean not bad but I think @SRH should prove her claim.

Re tube socks..when did they start making them in thigh high length for the ladies? And why?

Pry don’t have a pic of this…. Remember we grew up without phones documenting everything we did or wore! Weren’t we just talking about this is earlier posts in this thread?

It was a reasonable illusion of her…..

I remember when elliptical sprockets came out. The two cog Shimano Biopace set:
    DE7791CB-D35B-4299-8F7E-BDB8478797AC.jpg
This was supposed to be the greatest thing since sliced bread. I was already 25 years old.

Turns out it was just a fad and now the sprockets are circular again.

Then yesterday, I saw some click bait on the Internet showing a bicycle with an oddly shaped sprocket. Everything old is new again.

Might have went over their heads... You had to live / go through it to understand. Taking photos wasn't cheap.

When you had to shoot on film, you needed to plan in advance. You had to carry the camera (which, unless it was a slimline 110 camera, wasn't that small, and even then 110 cameras weren't small). You had to have film. Maybe you needed batteries to power the camera's internals / charge the flash. You had to WAIT for the flash to charge. Maybe you needed flash bulbs... You had to pay to have the film developed and have prints made. Like a box of chocolates, you never really knew what you had in the can until you got the prints back. While sending them out for development wasn't that bad a cost, if you went to a 60-minute photo place, you could spend a LOT of money. I have a fair amount of photos I took in college, but I had to plan. There are probably lots of things I wish I had photos of, just as there are lots of things I am glad I (or my friends) do not have photos of. The planning of the photo op explains why many photos are staged (not fake, but "stand in front of this tree..." type; not a lot of action / candid shots).

The digital camera made things a little cheaper, since you could pick and choose what to get developed, you'd know right away if you had a winner, but they still weren't that small. And you could email them.

Then when the camera was integrated into the phone, the whole game changed... Not only could you take pictures of almost anything, everyone else could also take pictures of everything... Cameras were all around.
