And when you were really "living in style" you had an attic fan... a great big thing mounted in the ceiling in a central area of the house. Turn that sucker on and open all the windows... just be sure you don't have any holes in the window screens to let bugs get sucked in . . .

When the Post office destroyed a letter there was enough left to send it back and you knew to send another one.

Now things are so fast there is nothing but tiny pieces left.

When I was a kid we had the official puppets, lamb chop and hush puppy.

Hush puppy sang the Nestlé’s chocolate commercial and snapped his chops.

When I was a little kid ... I remember this brand of exhaust fan in my grandparents home.

Pulled in cold air at night to keep the house cool.

It's all they had for house cooling all their life.

By contrast, I am a weenie and have to have cold A/C to sleep at night.

Then I am a weenie too…. After growing up with my bedroom upstairs and what felt like an attic with no air conditioning I refuse to do that as an adult I pay the damn bill

Remember the cool sound and sensation you would get as a kid when you would stand in front of a large fan, open your mouth wide, and let out an extended "Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh" . . .

Reused brown paper bag,and.03 cents for a little box of nasty tasting government milk.

But the bag had my name on it.

We had one of those. When I left home, my parents got AC and I took the fan with me. It could move some air.
