Remains to be seen I bought the tires and wheels the rest came along
When I was that old No Electric No indoor plumbing .

Heat was the wood fired cook stove in the kitchen and a fire place that most of the heat went up the chimney but it did have thermal mass that stayed warm.

Electric was in the Milk house for the well water pump for the animals.

My first job was McDonalds in 1976…I took the order on a paper pad with pencil, added it up yourself (including tax) and punched the total price into the register and then figured out how to make change in your head…

…in todays world if the internet goes down the store shuts down.

This has got to be hanging around my dad’s garage since 1960. It’s been mine since he passed away in 2002.

I wonder what it looks like nowadays, or if the American Grease Stick Company is still even in business?

When I was a paper boy, you had to do collections yourself, and you made change on the fly.

It was $1.10 per week or $1.25 with Sundays, back then for the newspaper, so it was usually easy; but you had to be prepared for people to give you $10 bills when they only owed you $1.25. I would take in about $105 every week, and as a kid I was carrying that money around with me.

Fortunately, there usually wasn’t any trouble because I lived on a government facility. Nevertheless, what you hear about military brats is often true, and I ran into a few of them that deserved a little comeuppance.

There were a couple fights when I found out kids were stealing from my paper racks. They were inside the service club and normally in plain view of everybody but sometimes nobody was there.

Anyhow, you had to do basic math in your head on the fly.

Now, I did have a Calculator in those days, and it would add, subtract and multiply up to a total of 1111. In binary. Which is like 0 to 15 lol. I built it from a kit in school in 1968, and it counts as my first computer.

Oh yeah, to change it from addition to subtraction you actually had to physically rewire it, and to make it multiply it also had an alarm clock motor that ran off of flashlight batteries. More wires. About 200 of them.

It could not divide numbers. Just too primitive. You had to read the lights to come up with the total. There was no actual display of numbers involved.

I had a 6 day route (no Sundays)..prior I had a one day per week. I kept the one day for a while and doing both papers on Thursday was collection time for both. My Schwinn Predator got a lot of miles on it from those days, but it kept me in quality bike parts and then some.

It worked good, last time I used it. Was really good for door seals to keep them from sticking and ripping.

The "smack" sound followed by, those famous words, "Dan go to the principles office, but first say your sorry."

We were never that controlled then it was a different time in the sixties.

I recall the school buses being chained up so they could pick us up in the morning.

We might to get dismissed early if started snowing hard none of this it might snow cancel school.
