Remember the lighters or mugs that would show a naked girl once it heated up?

Or the Chickenfoot CD cover that does the same thing

You had to stop at a pay phone to call home and let the family know where you were and how you were doing?

I lost my cellphone on Saturday and have not bothered getting one of my old cell phones functional yet. Sure is nice.

Oh, how some of them sneer at you if you use cash!

They want you to just tap your card and walk away. Happy day for them!

(I remember when my memory worked well enough to recall which photos I had posted on which forums. This may well be a duplicate.)

    Remember 2-stroke street bikes?

Remember tie-dying clothes? . . . and then finding out you could also tie-bleach clothes.

Finding out what happens if you use too much bleach?

Because the change was not calculated by the machine.

That was all on you so you were counting to yourself and the customer as well.

Or the look of confusion and sheer panic when you hand the cashier more than the price so you can get an even bill back.

Um, Sir, you gave me $21.56

    Yeah?

    It's only $16.56

    Yeah?

    You gave me too much.

They call the manger over most times they can be clueless as well.

This is how the country eventually avoids bankruptcy and insolvency. They make everybody’s cash digital and then they digitally zero the accounts.

The Greatest Fleecing has just begun.

Just thinking about oil and engines .

Back in my youth if we saw 100,000 miles on an engine it was considered high mileage and some what of a miracle.

Now 200,000 or more miles is very common !

The old days in Detroit when Foreign cars had to be unloaded off the street or get tickets .

Domestic vehicle unloading could tie up a street for hours no big deal.

parking lot drivers got paid $.50 per mile most others were like $.14 per mile.

I made $3.48 an hour driving a truck for the AAFES. Easiest summer job I ever had. I was taking dry goods from Ogden to Salt Lake, Tooele, and Dugway Utah.

I learned to drive a big truck with big mirrors thru narrow city streets and it was “a learning experience.”

Years later, when the engineers in California suffered massive layoffs, I went to work as a teamster. I had to join the union and everything, which was a bummer, but the driving experience really came in handy. In just one year I was the assistant manager of the place.

Fortunately business picked up, and I went back to work as an engineer in 1981. I remember that the union demanded that I pay a $200 withdrawal fee, or I would never be allowed to rejoin the union.

somehow they managed to suffer on ever since without me. :)

Yes indeed the good old withdrawal card I was not a union type employee but a few times i got banged by a withdrawal card it was a small company type deal the only way out would have been to quit.

Lots of water over the dam since that time.

Was the Deliverator from Snow Crash modeled after your high school years? Also, did you happen to work for CosaNostra Pizza? Haha.
