I was using matches to light a candle, noticed the striker was in the back on the book of matches... Remember the striker was in front & we used to try to do cool lighting/fire tricks w/o removing the "paper" matchstick from the row?

...^^^... If you had a K Code HiPo 289-271 ... they are worth BIG bucks for a matching numbers car today.

My dream mustang is a K Code 289-271 HiPo --- RED

PS ... I was delivering newspapers in the very early mornings and evenings as a kid and then collecting the money from customers on Wednesday, Thursday & Friday nights and then riding the bus to the bank on Saturday and had to pay my newspaper bill by 1200 noon at the latest. in almost 6 years was never late paying my bill.

Took that money and bought a new GTO 389-335.

The good old days! ... lol

:amen: It was just the threat that had me walk the straight and narrow.

I try not to think of the log chain .Someone really hated the idea of Mom needing to care for me.

Mom had a paint stirrer. Not the flimsy little ones you see today, this thing was 2" wide and 3/8" thick oak. It was kept in a drawer with the kitchen towels, and that drawer made a particular squeak when it opened. That was last warning, and you ignored it at your peril.

To this day, when I hear that drawer open, I still take pause.

I remember those in the quick stop stores, sitting on the counter constantly clicking and clacking. Must have annoyed the heck out of the clerks.

Ah yes, the ‘paint paddle’ as my sisters and I still refer to it. Every time mom painted a room it was thicker. It was on top of the refrigerator for easy access.

I remember my mom saying, "I'm not going to hurt my hand punishing you." Hence The Paddle (it's official title).
