I remember my buddies dad's Apple Farm , having a kegger and fire , getting laid in the backseat of my 72 Pontiac Catalina , kegs were 20$.
Rubbed a hole in my newspaper delivery bag on my Schwinn Varsity rubbing on front tire , saved all summer for that bike it was 100$ in 1974.
Dad used to whistle out the front door to tell me and my brother to get our hind ends home for dinner.

Oh yeah I Remember , hopefully I won't get Dementia in my Golden Year's

Remember when you couldn't afford a CD player for your vehicle so you opted for the portable Discman that plugged into your tape deck.(remember tape decks).
Had to put some good padding under it so the disc wouldn't skip over bumps.

Yes but turns out at least when I did it that was a better option. $60 for the Discman and it had a 10 second buffer so I could just throw it on the seat next to me.

It was easier to tape the CD onto a good Chrome Type II cassette then deal with all the extra buttons on a discman... I had then, and still have now, high quality home stereo equipment.

Sometimes I would do that too. I bought both tape and CD until about 1996, then just CD. Once I started doing that I went with the Discman and kept the tapes I had copied till they broke.

I had bought a nice tape deck in 1996 and that was part of it, didn't want to shelve a new piece. Around 2000 I bought an in-dash CD player when the tape deck croaked.

The job I was at allowed us to listen to headphones. CD's would get scratched and the Discman went through about (2)AA's/day. Made a bunch of mixtapes (1st playlists) from CD's and went back to the Walkman. Less battery consumption as well.
Still have a handful of mixed tapes and unplayable CD's around.

Batterywise that makes a lot of sense. Plus a Walkman is easier to keep on your belt.

Unplayable from scratches or lack of player?

My Walkman and BMX/car magazines were my friends on the bus to/from high school. Never wore headphones riding my bike though.
