My first job with a real paycheck was an after school job at a place called S.S, Kresge. That was just before they went big and changed their name to KMart. It was more a Five & Dime store than what KMart became but they had the blue light specials and a lunch counter where I could always get a grilled cheese sandwich. After they opened a KMart in town, the Kresge store stayed opened for manager trainees to get experience before moving to the larger KMart. My job was pushing the broom so KMart was not in my future.

A couple of Western Auto mentions got me thinking about a few tools I inherited when my Step Dad passed. Westcraft labeled 1/2" Breaker Bar & a Ratchet too. Probably have a few hand wrenches also.

i remember when 18 and had a hard deal. hitch hiked 20+ miles after riding 7 miles on bike. for a 5.75 hour job. after 3 months i had an apartment. i had a 32$ food budget for 7 days. walked to work. had 10$ a week for gas. embarrassing but i stole ciggerettes to sell for food. felt lucky when i could buy a whopper w/o cheese for 1.08 1997 was tough. took 1 month of saving to buy 20$ of herb for a weekend.
but having a hard time then built the moderate man i am now. life still is tough, but i never throw the towel in.

A back step for when I get older, Carhartt seatcovers, 4Runner wheels, Topper, and "tats all folks"! --for now!!
No -I also remember also when no K-mart - Yea -I am that old! BTW K-Mart, Wal Mart, and Target all opened their first stores (that is if you don't count their original smaller versions a bit earlier) in 1962 -with the slight edge going to K-Mart by a couple of months!

Our first "buy all" store before k-mart was called Tempo which basically was a more regional store than k-mart but the same.
