    Was 5 cents each here.

I wanted a daily route at age 10. My dad said no. I called the town paper which was weekly and they had no routes, so I started one. Got a daily the next year and still kept the other one. From there started mowing lawns for people myself.

Found a ton of those 6Vs cleaning out my uncle's house this year

That's the only reason I still keep a mag light in my truck, but mine is LED. The batteries last forever.

I've been diving since 1986. Underwater flashlights have evolved exponentially. My primary cave light now is 4000 lumens and will burn almost 4 hours. We used to use motorcycle batteries with HID headlight bulbs....

How many of y'all had one of these on your dash? Any good stories, where it saved your butt, or didn't?

Was just thinking, I haven't gotten a physical phone book thrown on my lawn in quite a many of years. I remember when those things were huge and just kept getting smaller

Similar to that more and more often a post on Reddit from young home buyers post a picture of a phone jack and ask what it is.:goingcrazy:

As summer gets into the final stretch, I remember people burning leaves on the curb. IMG_4365.jpg
A few years ago I tried burning some in the back yard following all the regulations I could find. The police still showed up. I could tell they wanted to do something about it, but couldn’t find any regulations I was violating. I won the battle, but I never did it again.

I am not allowed to burn leaves, unless they are still on branches that I've removed / have fallen down. There is a burn ban in effect (for me) from mid-March through mid-May. I usually burn my pile of twigs and such in the fall...

My town you have to get a permit to burn. Simple process, and then call the fire dept the day that you want to just so they know if they get calls.

Leaves not allowed because they could blow away though

I volunteer fireman I used to work with told me I can have a burn barrel.

He said get a pack of hot dogs and a stick and keep it near the barrel. It's now considered a "cooking fire".
    Never tried that.

The street in front of my house is a City/county boundary line. For 20 years the city Fire dept would always show up to tell me to put out my small brush and limb fires. Last summer, my house caught fire in the middle of the night. The City wouldn't respond so the county had to. My house burnt to the ground while waiting 15 minutes for county, the city Fire station is only a mile away.
