That really sucks. I’ve never understood the uneven enforcement of regulations. We got a fine at our cabin a few years ago. I had a fire going in the pit, and my wife was occasionally dumping leaves on it from her garden. They spotted it by air, circled the plane overhead until the DNR could respond to the “emergency.” The leaves were burned off at that point but “evidence remained.” They made me put out the fire, gave me a fine, and then told me I could start a new one with fresh materials!? lol! Probably cost the DNR $5k to give me a $100 fine that the judge threw out after a phone conference. Your tax dollars have never been spent better!! lol

I bet the insurance company is stating that the fire-station one mile away should have responded regardless, and is withholding payment, or trying to sue the town for the loss... and their response, "They told us to pound sand when we asked them to put out their burn pile, since they aren't in our jurisdiction. Their property is not our responsibility."

No, that wasn't a problem. I officially live in the county, there is no ambiguity about who must respond (regardless of how idiotic). However, the insurance portion was an absolute nightmare for a host of other reasons.

I had people who would tip me extra if was able to get the paper on the porch for them. It rained a lot in Florida. I got good at it.

Behind the storm door, some people had a box, never touched that mailbox, that’s for mail only. Anyone remember milk shutes?

Never heard of milk shutes but had dairy boxes on the back porch.

When I had a route if I didn’t get it on the porch people would file a complaint which the area supervisor would personally deliver to me. Get enough complaints and you would get fired.

It was a door on the side of the house, and inside it was in a cabinet in the kitchen, just load the milk bottles in there, empty or full
