We had the metal box with styrofoam, We got glass bottles with a foil pull off top. I think they were gallon bottles.

For sure. I have one more build and then I'm done or good. I will probably get my Magician powdered coated back to its original dayglo yellow by Chip at C4.

    It's currently blue and pink.

I had Motorific cars and boats...one cabin cruiser with twin outboards.
Hours of fun in the streams at the campsite...until the batteries died.

    People are silly...
Buying a toy from your childhood does not bring back the childhood. Try as we may.
A buddy of mine was having a yardsale at his sister-n-laws.
I had stopped by to pick him up to go do something....and I'm kinda looking around and I spot this big Sherman Tank. Takes 8 "D" batteries, fully operational everything...turret, barrel, fwd/rev, steering and it fires (put your eye out) shells. I went nuts cause I had one as a kid....well..kinda,..it was mine but dad would occasionally let me watch him play with it...
As I grew up, I never knew what happened to "my" tank...it was just gone....well, this one in the yardsale was the same tank and it was complete with shells and clean battery compartment.
I was going to buy that tank (to recapture that lost part of my chilfhood).
Now, my buddy is very very smart and he recognized what was going on. He calls me over and we sit down for a psych eval. Lol.
In the end, the tank did not come home with me. To this day, I kinda wish it had...but it would just be collecting dust, like the Light Beam Charger.

It does not bring back your childhood but that's not really the point. It brings back the fond memories, a connection to the past.

As we way in photography, photos are a return ticket to a time otherwise gone.

I had a collection of these when I was a kid. Somehow having several boats that I could swap outboards around on was quite satisfying.

Remember when you got a toy for Christmas, only to open the battery door and see it requires D BATTERIES?

The one battery size you rarely had in the house.

Remember when you'd steal batteries for your toys from household appliances and tools and pissed your parents off?

Dad goes to use the flashlight, batteries are gone.

I could be wrong but I think one of them got rid of full serve gas.

Ok I googled, apparently OR allows self serve gas now.....

but I get your point for sure :)

My first computer at home I think came with MS-DOS 5.x.

At school I used CAD on DOS and another program for mechanical drawing. I used to enjoy watching the plotter do its things afterwards.
