Same, my parents never bought a VCR..I bought my own. My parents have never been ones to spend a dime on things they don't absolutely need.

Your pic inspired me to mention first finding bands like the Dead Kennedys and Black Flag on vinyl. On the East Coast nobody really knew them in the early 80s.

First concert was 1989, Metallica..when they didn't suck and could still play all the good stuff plus sneak in some covers.

For all you video game lovers, check out Funspot in New Hampshire. 250-300 old arcade and pinball games.

I have to say as much as I enjoyed that arcade game, even now on the Xbox I can't get enough of Galaga arcade game, but nothing tops the feeling of playing in an arcade at the beach.

Man I really loved the arcades! not just the legit full blown arcades but the mini ones you’d find at mom and pop restaurants/pizza places or ski resort lodges with like 5 or 10 games meant to occupy the kids while the parents talked. Or even the 7 11’s and gas stations or video store with like 1 or 2, it was amazing! I like how the retro games have made a comeback as arcade dive bars, I show up there half drunk play a bunch of old games and leave fully drunk really brings me back!

I used to watch Hill Street Blues as a child. I can still remember the theme song as if I just heard it, although I haven't in probably 30 years until tonight when I found the YouTube video below. The show just had that sort of impression on me.

LA Law was another show I remember watching.

David Allen Coe just performed in town... probably to a far less wild crowd. I heard he doesn't put on a very good show any more.

We did several vacations on Catalina Island. The Town of Avalon had 3 big arcades, IIRC. From Skeeball to Galaga and Centipede. I also remember playing a lot of Night Racer. I think that's what it was. Awesome miniature golf, too. A pack of us kids would just roam the promanade at night, no worries, good times.

What will they do with these huge arenas once all the big names from the 70s and 80s have quit touring and there is no one left that knows how to actually write a song or play an instrument? Nothing left but Bro country crap. Probably more PBR around here
