Thought I'd revive this thread I started last year. Add too it if you feel like sharing. Quite a few incredible stories in here to include at least one from Devious6 who was right in the thick of it at the Pentagon. Again, try to keep this free of conspiracy theories and just use this opportunity to remember and reflect on where you were and what was going on in your world.

    Thanks.

I was in 6th grade english class when my teacher got a phone call and she turned the tv on for us to watch. I had to go downtown with my dad that day after school for a service call in what at the time was cincinnati's tallest building. I remember police were swarming that area and we had to go through security.

In a community college dorm getting ready for soccer practice. Teammates down the hall woke me up. Went to practice, coaches and we all agreed to cancel as no one's minds would be on what we were doing. Same with classes.
My cousin was on his way to the Pentagon as he had a meeting there. After I saw the plane hit the Pentagon, I freaked out. Finally got ahold of him and found out his meeting had been canceled and he had stayed in Baltimore.

I was in 3rd grade doing something and then a teacher told everyone to cut the TV's on. I saw a plane crashing into a building, at the time i asked why did a plane crash into the building? I got no response. Sad to say we watched that same scene and developments for the rest of school.

I didn't understand the significance of it at the time, but now i do. Brave people gave their live in an attempt to save another's. Man's greatest trait in my opinion, the wiliness to give their own life to save another.

12th grade English class. Heard a plane hit. We watched a bit and the teacher turned it off then since it appeared to be an accident at that point. Til I got to my next class the 2nd hit and we all k ew what happened and we watched the rest of the day in all but one of my classes that teacher refused to let us watch. Still seems unreal that it happened. I'll usually go back this time of year on YouTube and watch the coverage as it unfolded. Still seems unreal.

My sister works at a private elementary school in downtown NYC just a few blocks from the WTC. She was in lock down in the basement until around 4pm that day. I woke up to by moy mom crying saying New York city is being attacked and we cant find your sister, one of the scariest days of my life

I was in 7th grade in english class. Our teacher got word of the first plane hitting and he turned the TV on. There is was a huge hole in the WTC tower. We watched for probably 5. All of a sudden I saw a plane come into view and heads toward the tower(at this point im thinking someone was showing footage of the first plane hitting). Just then the principal called over the PA system before the plane struck the building and instructed everyone to turn off the TVs. So my teacher quickly obeyed and Turned the TV just as the second plane was feet from the tower. We went off to next class and heard the news of the second plane hitting. It hit me, I was watching the second plane hit the tower... Still blows my mind to date.

Later that day after both towers collapsed and the flight 93 went down in Penn and the pentagon was attacked, my father showed up at school to pick me up.

His exact words as I walked into the room, "C'mon we are going home, we are going to war"

Never thought I would be here in Afghanistan supporting the effort. If ever I think of why im here I think of that exact moment, that day of terror, It gives me motivation.

I was in Mrs. Mumma's (she was a hottie) 10th Grade Government class. It was my first class of the day. We were in the last room on the left at the end of the hall in Macland Hall at McEachern high school. I was sitting on the right side of the classroom in the second desk back from the door. The door was in the front right corner of the classroom. The TV was in the front left hand corner of the classroom. Our principal, Mr. Farr came running into our classroom gasping for air because he had been running down the hallway. He told us to STOP what we were doing and turn on the TV, someone had just attacked the world trade center (didn't know it was a plane yet). He said we were the very first classroom he had told about the attack.

The TV's were on all day the rest of the day and we didn't do anything. By about lunch time, they had a huge prayer circle that went on the rest of the day in "Senior Circle" in the middle of campus.

I was a captain on a Fire Dept in Bishop, Ca. The morning of 9/11 before it was ever the September 11th we know...Our Fire Dept had a rough morning. We had a single vehicle rollover crash at 4:53 am. The victim had fell asleep in his 99 4 Runner going 75 mph and went into a sideage ditch that DWP had just dug for drainage. The 4 runner went in the ditch backwards and flipped in the air 5 times about 45 feet in the air and upon impact the driver was air compressed out of the passenger side window. He went head first into one of the cow poles and when we arrived on scene I realized it was a friend of my father who had just become a father roughly 3 weeks prior. His head had been ripped in half from the left eye socket to the bottom right portion of his scalp and part of his brains were exposed. On scene we comforted him in his last moments where I held his hand and he told me to tell his wife he loved her and to always watch out for his new little girl and then he passed. That's how my September 11th began.... Later that morning we watched the HORROR begin at the fire station as we sat there completely in shock. In the next 3 days I waited at the fire station because the city was supposed to send an SR team which I was part of to New York. Me and 4 guys were 100% committed to going to New York. Unfortunately the city decided it was in their best interest to not send us. I have NEVER BEEN SO DISSAPOINTED IN MY ENTIRE LIFE!!! I can no longer type because I am overwhelmed with emotion right now... I struggle everyday with 9/11 343 of my brothers were killed and it kills me daily to know I never got the chance to to participate in Rescue and Recovery at Ground Zero.

I was at a Plant Manager's meeting in Kennebunkport, Maine at a hotel about 1/2 mile from the Bush compound. I was just starting to kick off the meeting with some introductory remarks when someone burst into the room and said a plane just crashed into one of the World Trade Towers in NYC. We all assumed it was a horrible accident and i went on with my talk. A few minutes later the same person came in and said another plane just crashed into the other Tower. I stopped the meeting and said let's all go find TV's to watch what's going on and we will reconvene at noon.

We all went to different rooms and watch the horror unfold. When we got back together at noon, I canceled the conference and had a silent prayer session. We then spent the next few hours figuring out how to get everyone home since we had a global audience at the conference. Later that afternoon I took a walk down the street to the Bush compound and out front were 2 NG humvees with 50 cal's mounted and at least 20 ss agents with automatic weapons standing by. They didn't look to happy to see me strolling down the sidewalk so I turned around and went home to hug my kids.

I was walking out of my computer programming class as a freshman in college when a friend ran up to a group of us hysterically screaming. Then watched the second plane crash among a bunch of friends. We will never forget!

I was at work. I remember it clearly. It was a company with a lot of scientists from around the world. I was told that something bad was happening, and that there was a TV brought into the lunch room area. Quite a few people were already there, and I'm not sure how word had gotten out that quickly. I had just got there and the second building was hit. As I stood there, I remember as they said there was now an explosion at the Pentagon. My stomach felt that. We all stood there, all day. Lots of people crying and just holding hands. I'm not a very emotional guy, but I sure was that day.
