Ok, this may be a stupid question, but I couldn't find any info on it. My daughter's 2008 Sport TRD has had the remote entry horn beeps turned on. It has always beeped once for opening doors and twice for locking doors. Now, the horn beeps only once for both opening and locking. She wants Dad to fix it, but I can't find any info on why it changed.

You have got to feel good that she wants Dad to fix it ... other than that I've got nothing ...;).

Mine is the opposite, once for lock, twice for unlock. I wouldn't mind it beeping once for everything though.

It's odd that there isn't just a standard configuration. This truck has the factory security (alarm?) which is just a blinking red led light in the block off cover where the differential lock button would be. One factory manual shows an led that can be switched in or out for valet or programing mode.

This one is just an led but no switch. It is a factory or dealer installed option for this truck and was purchased this way from the dealer. It uses a standard three button Toyota remote key fob. The red led is flashing all the time now with two quick flashes and a brief pause. I believe it used to turn off when the truck was started, but now is on all the time. The alarm/horn beeps must be related somehow.

I have searched for info on this but I have not found this particular situation come up before. At least I was able to impress my daughter by fixing her overhead console with info I found here. The dredded "510" solder fix solution.

Look and see if there is a Valet override button somewhere that has the circuit closed. Several years ago I bumped mine in another vehicle and it took me a month then one day I was running the vacuum and found it under the console on the left, somewhat hidden. Just an idea!

The push button is built into the LED.

If you have the ignition on and press it in, the car is in valet mode and the LED Light should stay lit because it is in Valet Mode.

Depressing it will turn off valet mode and turn off the LED.

There should have been a small booklet in the glove box with this information.

I recently had the same problem and read this post. My LED was flashing constantly with the ignition on or off and even unplugging the battery it still stayed on. After reading this I held the button in on the back while turning the ignition on and after a few seconds of holding it down the truck made 4 short honks and then the light went out. Nice. However it doesn't give me the one short honk after arming it. It usually did after a minute. I didn't have a book on the alarm so any ideas?
