I purchase a remote/key for my Tacoma on ebay and the seller give all the needs to program and so far I'm not lucky it simply don't work. Beleive me I try and try so many way and nothing , niettt..... Yes I know the way to enter into the computer key programing system into the truck. I can see the light flashing in the center board dash...(car with a key shape in that flashing light).

I really would like to have it working I would have to carry a key instead of key and remote...

Here is a picture of the remotekey I am talking about. remotekey.jpg

Ho yes I also want to my cousin garage and He tested the remote frequency and it is the same as the original remote so it's not the problem for sure...

My last thought is; I think there was to many remote recorded in the truck computer !!!If so do you guy's know how to erease some of those in the computer memory ???

Many thank's for you help and time.
    Michel

Can I ask if the unlock/lock portion worked ok?

I have a 2015 base access cab and DO NOT have a chip in my key,
I want a remote in my key like you have pictured really bad.

Are you sure you have the same frequency on your key/remote as the OEM requires, ie GQ43VT40W ?

That's the wrong key. Not sure you will make that one work.

If the key doesn't have that fcc ID, it won't work!

This one worked great for me. It's the eBay one that Norton posted the link for in post #35.
"G" key replacement, programming / key fob...

If you like less bulk in your pocket the flip key is a must! The fob code is inside the fob, key code is on the blade. This seller has a chart to verify which key/ fob you need. If your truck does not require a chip key then just match the fob code and follow the linked instructions in post#35.

    Thanks,
I think I purchased one from his eBay store, it's not the flop but the all in one,
The FCC ID is the same that's on my remote so hopefully in a few more days when it arrives I'll run it by my locksmith to copy the pattern and I'll be set.

I often wonder what exact model these keys are meant for, like a Yaris or Prius or whatever.
For 40 bucks the wife and I are calling it a late birthday present, hahaha.

I bought one of the all in one keys late 2014, didn't make it 2 years.

Put it in he ignition one day and turned the key and it completely fell apart. Apparently the glue that they use to bond the key to the back plastic gave way. Luckily I had my spare key in a hitch safe and didn't get stranded.

Still trying to figure out what epoxy to try for the fix. Nothing broke, just glue failure, so if I can find something that a thin coat can bond plastic and metal strong enough for the rotational forces I may try to fix it. Doubt I will buy another of the same type.

FWIW The flip key uses a pinned connection to hold it in the fob. They actually had to remove the key via the pin in order to cut it.

Could you get a Yaris key and just swap guts, and have it cut at a hardware store?
Or doesn't the new Tacoma 16+ key look like the all-n-1 we are talking about.

Guess I'll see how long mine lasts,

Sorry that happened man, glad you had a spare!

There isn't a lot of surface area on the key to get a good bond.thinking about drilling a few small holes in the end and getting a bit more for an epoxy to hold to.

    Anyone have recommendations?

I'd call the Toyota dealer and ask how much the 16+ Taco key is, also check the Yaris key as they look the same.

Looks like part of the metal key broke as well, or is it supposed to be unsymmetrical?

Yeah, that's the way the key is shaped.

Third option I have is drill and tap the key then put a couple set screws in and maybe a bit of epoxy. I won't buy another one like this, but if I can fix this one I will. It works fine, just don't trust the longevity of it.

Found an M2.5 × .45 tap here at work but don't have any screws on hand. Going to see if I can get it tapped today and stop by radio shack or something to find a couple screws.

It's a bit crude and the screws I ordered are a bit bigger than I wanted, but it's actually pretty freaking stout as is. The plastic cracked a bit as I didn't have the oversized drill for the thread relief.

Hoping a thin layer of epoxy/superglue will bond it back together.

    I feel cheap now lol

I ordered my flip key from the OP in this thread. Still works fine.

I also purchased the same flip key and it's working fine. Before moving he cut and programed my key. He mentioned something about the chip being separate from the key. If something was to happen the chip could be removed and used with non chipped key. I haven't changed batteries or tried to open it. Hopefully I'm not misquoting anything.

If you are talking about this key:
"Hopefully I'm not misquoting anything" You are not.
If this is the Flip Key you have. Flip open the key and notice there is a faint crack around the circumference of the Fob. Grasp the ignition key half in one hand and the key chain half in the other and wiggle it till it pulls apart at the crack. This is to allow it to be used as a valet key, VERY , look in the unplugged ignition key end and there is a hole that the chip is plugged into.
