Does anyone know if my 2003 Taco will need a bypass for a remote start system?

No, the 1st gens do not require a bypass module. If you have the Toyota VIP alarm you will need to interface with that but most good remote start modules will have the capability to disarm a factory alarm built in.

So I should be good to go then if I don't have an alarm on the truck? The reason I ask is because "basic installation" is included in the price of a remote start if you buy from Best Buy. Labor and other parts apply, however this is only if the vehicle needs a bypass module.

You should ask what is included in basic installation. Some places consider things like door locks or manual transmission installs extra charges above basic install. You are right though, a bypass module always adds a significant cost on top of a basic install.
