Remote start - engine shuts off when opening door

So this is where I find an issue with the remote start set up. This has now happened to me 2 time. Both times around -15. Truck had previously ran about 2-4 hrs before I went to restart. The truck would not start via remote till I was in a place I could just walk over to it in about a min or less.

So truck has restarted ran 30sec to a min and when I get to it it shuts off as programmes when the door is opened.

Hop in and took 4 attempts to fire up on the first occasion. 2 on the second. The second time the truck had not sat as long and I think it was a couple deg warmer out.

This is why I dislike the door shut off. Dealer stated whick I think is true. Vehicle did not come off the high idle and flooded. With our system please make sure it runs a min of 3 to 5 min before shutting it off is there go to answer.

This is a bad system. Love the remote but logic in programming is poor.

 

You have an issue outside of the remote start. I don't care how long or short a modern car idles it shouldn't flood (I'm aware it's running rich when cold). I'm in weather that cold often and I've never had a car do that. I've never even seen a FI snowmobile do that.

But I do agree the engine shutting off with the door is a shit design.

 

I will chat with my dealer again and see if I can get it there so they can try it when we have our next cold snap.
It sounded as though they had heard this before as they were pretty quick with the. " 3 min rule when cold so it can come off high fuel load".

Thanks for the prompt. Have called the dealer and they will take it in and see if they can get it to do the same thing. They also mentioned the fuel pump recall. They are not sure this would be the issue but possibly.

 

Three years later and it's the same story. I was hoping there was an easy fix or that I was doing it wrong. This pretty much kills the feature for me. I probably won't use it much, and when my free trial of the Toyota app ends, I doubt I'll pay for a subscription.
