I called my local dealer and they said you can control your window with your keyfob. But, your vehicle must retrofit with it. To find out if your vehicle is retrofit for it or not, contact the dealer you bought it from.

I have the app and hate it. It's slow and unreliable. When the free trial expired, the I looked into the FOB use and found that it worked in absence of the app. However, hate to sound like an R-tard here but, I find the FOB to be really touchy. On mine if I punch the buttons too fast or too slow it won't work and ends up being about half the time or worse. And, the range seems very short. Like I have to have it in sight kind of short. There is also no confirmation that the truck started.

So, I subscribed to the app and have that back. I honestly don't like either very much. :frusty:I could start my '17 Ford w/factory FOB from 150yards away, indoors, and get a green light to show success! Is that so much to ask?

Is there an alternative remote start system? I would gladly carry another FOB in exchange for something that worked reliably. Mine is a '20 with auto trans, suggestions?

I just saw a video of a guy using the key that you take out of your FOB and he opened and closed the windows on his Tundra. I will try it out see if it works on the Tacoma.
You insert the key into the key hole on the handle and you turn right and hold windows should open and then left and hold windows will close. If you release at any time windows will stop and to continue turn and hold again and they will open or shut whichever way you turn the key. Something he discovered by accident. Now if we can do that with the FOD then that would be amazing.

I didn't ask what it means. But I think what the rep meant by "retrofit" is, is the truck equipt with hardware to do that or not. Only that dealer will know. I didn't bother calling the dealer where I got my truck after finding out online that they might charge you extra for programming your key fob.

I'll find out on my next service, 4k miles more to go.

Oh, crud. The subscription expired, remote start not functioning.

Time to a trip to the dealer (darn it). I know I get a free oil change (I changed it at 6500 miles, just hit 9800)

My dealer said I didn’t have remote start lol, so sometimes they are useless.

Its finicky… Press for one second then release, press for one second then release , then press and hold until parking lights flash then release.

Four out of five times mine starts off the fob, every once in a while I have to wait a second and try the sequence again..

Yeah well, the remote app isn't much better; operations timed out, not responding, logged out, etc, etc. They both suck. I would have preferred an old (2019) fashioned key fob w/remote star buttons. Lame.
