Need some help with wiring a remote start. They are very basic Bulldog Security units. Not my first choice but they were brand new and free. My problem is that if I use the starter, the keyless entry will not work. If I unlock before hitting the starter everything is fine otherwise I have to unlock with a key. I am sure it is a simple fix. I think it has some thing to do with the factory alarm shut down wire but the wiring diagram for 05-08 Tacoma does not show it used.

Question #2: I need to find either a positive or negative wire from the power door lock. I need this in order to operate the remote starter with the factory keyless fob. The vehicle wiring diagram says, drivers side kick panel, 10 pin plug, wire #4. Well that did not work. It is definitely the lock wire because if I ground it the locks cycle, but it will will not trigger the auxiliary lead on the remote starter. Any ideas?

    Thanks!!!

if there is a neg unlock wire on the remote stsart unit you need to hook it up. The remote doorlocks on Toyotas do not work once the car is running. The unlock wire is as follows.

power unlock - green/black (double pulse) driver kick panel 12 pin plug pin number 10

Yup he's right the factory keyless remote will not work when the car is running. All toyotas are that way when I sell remote start for them I always sell one that has lock outputs so the remote is replaced instead o having to carry 2. There are ways around it but it's not easy or recommended for a novice installer how much experience do you have working on automotive alarms and factory wiring?

This is only my second remote start to install but, I have been the automotive parts/repair industry for way more years (decades) than I would like to mention. So if you know how I can fix it, please pass it on.

    Thanks!

The only way you can make this work is to hook up the neg unlock if your remote start has it. If it does not sell it and get one that does or deal with not being able to use keyless entry.

You can get in and fuck with the factory keyless system but it isn't the best idea.
