Just put a Viper 5904 remote start in my 07 Tacoma this weekend and at first I was doing the Virtual Tach mode, and it would take it 2 tries to finally start. Then I hooked up the tach wire and did the tach learn procedure and now it just turns over and turns over and turns over but never ever fires up. It would turn over for an hour if I let it. I can deactivate the remote start with the remote, and then try it again and it fires right up on the second try. So why the heck is it not wanting to fire on the first try, no matter how long it cranks?

Did you get the correct tach wire? Black/white on the OBD connex.

Also did you bypass the immobilizer?

Ensure the springed button (kind of like the button that turns off/on your refrigerator light) makes good contact with the hood of your truck when closed.

Yes, otherwise it would turn over at all I don't believe, but it definitely wouldn't start.

I didn't hook that button up. It is default in the normally open setting, so by not hooking it up my unit is none the wiser whether the good is closed or not.

I remote started it a while ago and it went through two 4-second crank cycles without ever starting. On the 3rd try it cranked right up without any problems. I just don't understand why if it's going to crank on the 3rd try, what's causing it to not crank on the first try? It does just fine with the key...

If it starts with the key in the ignition but not when you remove it, I would think its the immobilizer. The tach wire can be picked up at the
data port under the steering wheel...........good luck let us know how you make out....

I had the wire from the viper connected there, to the tach. I reprogrammed the PKALL bypass, and reprogrammed the tach. Still not working. Cranks away without the key.
