Remote start issues

Long time lurker, first time poster. Picked up my second tacoma a few weeks ago (1st was a '99 in '00). 2021 off road. Remote start was working fine through the Toyota app for about a week then I kept getting errors. Talked to Toyota corporate and they think they have it figured out, copied and pasted here: "The DCM has the status if accessory remote start is installed or not, and the status can be set by Techstream. If there is no accessory, please ask the dealer to set this status." They first asked if the dealer installed any remote start accessories, which they did not. Is setting this in the dcm something I can do without going to the dealership? Maybe get into some kind of programming mode through the fob or display? Really rather not spend a Saturday going to the stealership. Thanks!

 

If you don't have any way to interface between the OBD and your computer, like a Tactrix cable, then you'll need to do one of the following:

1. Buy a Tactrix cable and install Techstream (ECU update thread in my signature).
2. Find someone local to you on here with the ability and who would be willing to help you out.
3. Have the dealership perform the change.
