Remote Start on 3rd Gen issues

Hey guys. I just bought my first Tacoma and it happens to be a 2020 Tacoma TRD Sport and I love it. I recently installed remote start in it and now my microphone in the cab won’t work. So basically, when on the phone the person on the other end can’t hear me and my “speak” function for navigation or text messaging isn’t working. Any idea what’s going on? Please help.

I'd start by double and triple checking every aspect of install, call the vendor for tips, and then uninstall next.

You might want to add what remote start you used and what plug-and-play harness you used if you used one.

Not sure about this but, I thought the 2020s didn't have an updated remote start yet. They're just for the 16-19. Maybe @N2DesignsInc or @jmeitz have some input on this

 

If I'm not mistaken, I was under the impression all 2020+ TRD Tacomas have remote start from the factory. You lock it twice and then hold the lock button down for the 3rd press. You might want to check that first because if it is stock already, now you have two remote start modules conflicting with each other which will definitely cause issues.

 

2020 kits are available. You just need to tap one wire in passenger kick panel. I believe Jimmy @ N2 has them in stock.

 

THIS!! Remove the remote start you installed then try: Lock-Lock-Lock/Hold 3 seconds!

 

If this is the case, it may be unprecedented. Please let us know how this turns out.....

Nope, not all. There was another thread on this, I believe the conclusion was that it had to have the premium tech package. But definitely not all 2020's have remote start from factory.

 

Gotcha, I just thought it was all TRD models... sucks that you need to get the premium package to get a remote start when other manufacturers include it for base model trims. Thanks for clarifying.

 

You need the mid level premium package to get remote connect unless the option is called out independently. It starts at the $3,670 Premium Audio with Dynamic Navigation with options package and on to be automatically included.

So this is going to sound ridiculous but I didn’t know my truck had remote start. Best way to end a Friday!

Has anyone found an override to the auto shutoff when the doors open?

 

Not that I have heard of.
