Hi, FNG here. Put money down on a new 2023 SR and should see it in a couple weeks, it's in transit. This topic may belong in the tech category...

I have scoured the interweb and have found nothing on remote start kits for '23 SRs. The SRs don't have the push button start and evidently that's an issue. A few years back, I bought a great kit from Accessorides for my '13 4Runner but they aren't 100% sure on a kit for the 2023 SR. The 2022 SR is the same(?) as the '23, so....

I'm surprised that Toyota doesn't offer anything but I suppose that's how they get you to drop another $2500 on an SR5 or TRD Sport which DOES have a remote start. That may not seem like a lot of added money, but I'm paying cash on the barrel head and that extra just pushes me past my budget. This is a vehicle that I am going to build over time instead of wasting money on an upscale model/package with options I don't want.

Also, curious as to if the addition of an aftermarket kit affects any Toyota warranty I have in any way.

    Thanks in advance!

    Welcome!

a lot of people use factory of aftermarket so you'll get some options from people. I'm not personally a fan of remote start and just don't see the need for it myself.

I’ve heard mostly about n2 designs.
Also not much of a fan of remote start.

Lots of Tesla talk about how it can be programmed for temps on battery and cabin and such. Curious what else might be useful about remote start. Seems like it’s mostly a convenience thing?

Could be some cool tech coming with the EV Tacoma. It opens some doors.

    SR is a great truck.

It's definitely a nice thing here in Minneapolis where we have five months of winter!

The N2 set-up is only for push button start models. The SR still has a conventional key start.

Yeah, I thought MT w h key had an option for N2. Just not interested in one myself cause steep driveway and not really that cold. More focused on building garage / shop space.

My Tacoma Sport came with the remote start and I love it. Works great for warming up and cooling down the vehicle when needed. Like many mentioned the engines dies when opening the door but I have learned to live with it.

I used it more so when I had the 1 year service on my phone.

Since I cancelled the service, it's good to know I can still use it with the FOB.

Never sign up for the free subscription from day one and my FOB started the truck no problem. Now the truck 1 1/2 years old and still starts with the FOB.

The young salesman, who basically inherited me from another guy (he was new and needed to get the commission).

I hadn't been in a showroom since stationed in Hawaii (Hickam) in July 2002 and bought my 2003 Honda Pilot EX/DVD.

I didn't purchase anything extra I was offered so for him to explain the Toyota App and set it up was no problem.

He reminded me that I could cancel it at the 1 year mark.

I still have the App and it keeps track of my maintenance done and mileage done.

The other amenities are not used but I'm good with it for now "as is".

I used the N2 design kit on my 22 SR Utiliity. Regular key. Works great, easy install, no splices. I really got it so I could remote unlock the damn doors especially the passenger.
