Remote start on App?

I recently purchased a 2021 Tacoma sport that came with the remote start function with their app. My truck starts and will run for 10 minutes before shutting off. My question is about opening the door which causes the truck to turn off. Is there a bypass for this "safety feature"? I find it kind of dumb that you have to re-start your truck after remote starting it. Any help would be appreciated!

I think there’s another thread about this floating around here somewhere. There doesn’t seem to be any way to bypass that, or not that I’ve seen anyway. I can’t say that it really bothers me, but there are others that are less than thrilled with that feature. Maybe someone will figure it out eventually. Plenty of innovative folks on here.

 

I don’t believe there is a way around it. It’s more like a 10min warm up or cool down

 

My after market remote start work the same way, will turn off after 10 min.

It's normal and unnecessary. Bothers me more than it should.

 

I heard the light trigger near the door hinge is linked to it shutting off.. tape it down?

 

Even if you disable the door switch, I think it will shut off when you put your foot on the brake/shift out of park. The issue is that when you remote start the vehicle, you have bypassed the entire security model based around the key being present when the car is running. If the car is remote started, they don't want it to be drive-able both to prevent theft and to prevent an accident if a non-authorized driver gets in.

 

I hear ya. My wife's Murano remote starts and as long as the key is on you, you can brake and button and it's then drivable. Annoying that this isn't the case with our tacos
