Remote Start Package on New Tacoma's (2020+)

From my research, it sounds like remote start was added to the Tacoma starting with 2020s. It's stock on the Pro, but for all the lower trims, if it the Premium Audio package that you need to have to get the "Remote Connect (133)" in order to get remote start?

I don't get why they don't advertise it like with some of Toyota's cars/SUVs.

 

I have remote connect with my 2021 TRD OR and I don’t have the premium audio package.

 

What packages do you have?

 

Just the TRD OR with LED headlights, bed mat and door edge guards

 

Could you post a pic of those door guards when you have a moment?

 

One of the few changes to the Tacoma for 2021 was the addition of Remote Connect for the TRD Sport and TRD Off Road. Previously, it was only included at those trim levels if you opted for the premium package.

 

Hi guys i have a question!! I just bought a new tacoma and it has remote start, but it doesn't have authorization app in display screen to enter the code. Does anybody know why? tks.

 

If you push the lock button on the remote on the remote 3 times holding for 3-5 seconds on the third push it should start. I didn't have the app on the truck either. Called the Toyota 800 number and they did a remote refresh which got it working with the iPhone app.

Awesome news, thanks! Do you know what year they started adding the remote start with the premium package (for the older models), was that 2020s or did it start in 2019?

 

It was working at the first time, but when I try to connect with an app on the phone it stopped working.

 

does it still work with the remote?

 

The app is alright, it’s easier to use the fob though
