this is really a fortin evo all, $160 plug and play 10 minute install. Just watch the video and take your time programming. Piece of cake running lights work with no splicing, completely plug and play. I ordered this as i was sitting down with the finance manager signing the papers for my truck. They wanted $550 plus tax.

All push button start remote starters shut the engine down when the door is open. The system works perfectly as intended.

All aftermarket (not factory) remote starts i have installed or have seen it turns the engine off. They don’t want to be liable for your car being stolen.

Not to argue, but as mentioned my wife’s fortin unit in her mazda Pts stays running when she gets in. Just hit start, wait for a flash and drive off. Doesn’t shut off.

I should have stated older fortins a few years old and such. The new ones are supposed to be programmed to turn off.

I have the start plus plug and play from Toyota in my 2018 Tacoma and it is ok but not the greatest. I wanted aftermarket but I was told if you have ANY electrical issues in your vehicle Toyota WILL blame it on the aftermarket unit and void the warranty work. I don't like that no lights come on when it is running and there is only 2 /10 minute cycles of warm up time. Also as soon as you press the door unlock button on your key the engine stops running. The starting range is maybe 200-300 yds. depending on where you are with any obstructions. It is good enough for what I need just starting it at home and at work. I hope that helps you bud.

Yeah they can try blaming the remote starter, but with plug and play simply remove it and have them fix the issue as they would never know. My local dealer buys kits from me so what’s the difference other than they can mark it up.

Easier to just take it off than to hit those ignorant fools with this (USA only):

Here is the FTC (Federal Trade Commission) law that makes it illegal for a dealer to void a warranty on anything unless they can prove that the aftermarket device cause the problem. Illegal to scape-goat to get out of a warranty repair owed to you. They can be sued. This is a FEDERAL CONSUMER PROTECTION ACT/LAW made to protect you from BS like that.

This is called The "Magnuson-Moss Act", I suggest you read on it, but I've pretty much put it down here for you to save you time.

The dealer HAS THE BURDEN to prove that an aftermarket device or addition caused another problem that would allow them to void warranty. Hasn't happened once to us or any of our customers. I'd say spend the 15 minutes and since it's purely plug n play, take it off then go to the dealer as to not even give them a scape-goat chance. Here is a summary:

    Source: https://www.sema.org/sema-enews/2011/01/ftc-validates-right-to-install-aftermarket-parts

In a Consumer Alert issued by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the agency confirmed that “The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act makes it illegal for companies to void your warranty or deny coverage under the warranty simply because you used an aftermarket part.” The alert outlines key provisions in the law that provides protections to car owners. As defined by the FTC, an “aftermarket' part is a part made by a company other than the vehicle manufacturer or the original equipment manufacturer.”
“The FTC’s reference to aftermarket parts is equally applicable to specialty parts,” said Russ Deane, SEMA’s General Counsel. “Under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, the warranty cannot be conditioned to a specific brand of parts, services or vehicle modifications unless those parts or services are provided free of charge.”
The alert notes that a consumer has the right to patronize independent retail stores and repair shops for parts and service without fear of voiding the new car warranty. The dealer/vehicle manufacturer has the right to deny a warranty repair but they must demonstrate that the aftermarket part caused the problem. The warranty remains in effect for all other covered parts.

The FTC alert may be downloaded using this link.

The alert was issued in response to an FTC complaint filed last August by the Automotive Aftermarket Industry Association (AAIA), Automotive Oil Change Association (AOCA) and the Tire Industry Association (TIA).

Yes that is true my friend but for somebody like me I'm not mechanically inclined enough to pull it out and put it back in kind of scared I might screw something up.I don't know too much about vehicles and especially not wiring.

I realized right from the beginning it was a scare tactic because I talked to a high end installer here in Winnipeg,Manitoba,Canada and he said the same thing your telling me.But I still had that little bit of doubt in the back of my mind and let the dealer install it anyway.

Yes that is a good feature. But when I bought my 2005 Hemi Truck brand new years back I had the most expensive python system installed and I could unlock the door and open it and it was still running. But step on the brake without putting the key in the ignition and turning it forward then it would stall out. So it could never be stolen. The japanese are very smart people with electronics why couldn't they make the same system like the python. Not a very strong effort on their part with the start plus for Toyota's they should be ashamed.

Did you buy the Fortin Evo or N2?
Wondering what's the difference between the 2?

just recently installed the start-x kit from Amazon, works awesome. Very easy install, the video i found on youtube is perfect and explains every step and shows every step. The vehicle shuts down when you open the door, but apparently that's a toyota thing and they all do that. i paid like 160 shippped for the whole thing. It uses the factory fob and you just lock it 3 times to start and stop.
